#!process how cooked is ng recruiting
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
better than 2024 and 2023
still not great
kind of winners take all game (people with experience already get most of the interviews)
for reference im at c1 this summer but ideally want to break into FAANG/big tech
tony has cracked googleđ« đ (he's the winner)
im just worried that ng recruiting will be hella difficult compared to trying to get another intern -> RO
also is it a thing to do internship summer before working FT? would i get in trouble for that
if u have c1 already then u shouldnt delay ur graduation lol
you can do internship summer before working ft, ik a lot of ppl who do that, but some companies might not let you intern that summer (like reject u based on ur grad year)
faang internships are all rng. applied to meta/netflix for 4 years not a single interview - only recently got one single google interview for ng
true true
im a dec 2026 MS grad or if I dont land anything better just finish off that semester part time/online
do you think its worth to recruit intern again and have c1 ft as my fallback
or should i just recruit ng normally
imo its way easier to move from c1 to faang after working a year than it is ng
it becomes less rng the more experience u have
the tc isn't that far apart if you live in a lower cost of living area and if your really junior for c1 vs big tech
it's just that ur promos are pretty slow and pay increase very little
valid points
would u recommend i recruit intern or ng this next cycle?
both
assuming i just have to choose 1 idk how it works if i were to do both
Just take whatever is best
is it possible to apply intern and ng for the same company
i heard they either auto reject or messes it up
Yeah I usually applied ng only if that was the case
I applied to both for google this cycle tho and they still gave me an interview but it could be just lucky recruiter reach out
While I canât say for next year, this year was pretty good for new grad
Mightâve been lucky but I got meta google Amazon ng interviews this year
But yea I do agree with you he should def start his job anyway
how did you know what companies u had to choose 1?
Just pure luck at the end of the day fs
also heard ng interviews are way harder + less HC
whats ur prev exp?
Just two summers at a smaller tech company
And I was a masters student so that may have helped
I donât understand this question
sorry i meant like how do you know which companies only let u apply for one or the other
Oh u donât
i just dont wanna apply both and it messes up my chances w either
I just said if I see listings for both I only apply ng
Except Google for some reason
I donât know why I applied to both
i see
whats the thought process for this? is it just bc potentially not getting RO if i intern again?
I mean like whatâs the alternative
im thinking of trying to get intern for summer 2026 and then taking c1 ft RO fall 2026 if i dont get return from summer 2026 company but idk how the timing will work or if c1 wouldnt allow that
I think ur overcomplicating it and kinda wasting money
Instead of working for 150k a year ur paying more money for your masters for the maybe 10 percent chance of getting a better internship
when you couldâve just spent the whole year working, and moved companies anyways
dont wanna get in too specific of it but in my scenario the cost of masters doesnt change if i delay grad to dec 2026 (just lose out of the pay from the fall sem but would be potentially countered by intern 2026 money)
id only not do RO if i got an internship i feel like is better
lol bro just put the fries in the bag and go to c1 itâs a huge waste of time recruiting ng
Yeah because even if u get an interview for faang or big tech its not guaranteed you pass or even get a return offer
like your manager could leave the company mid internship
yeah the return offer is the main reason im hesitant
bc this whole idea is scrapped if i dont get a intern 2026 that i think is worth so ig this is all a hypothetical situation
I donât know ur taking a p big risk
Well I guess not really a risk
But itâs just a waste of time tbh
for not enough gain
idk how it could work but i could intern summer 2026 work c1 ft fall 2026 and hop if i get the RO from summer
but like idk if id get in trouble for that
I mean you would prob burn bridges for c1
But sometimes return offers take longer than to the fall
but think of it this way
You start c1
You finish your masters
Work January
By December you would have 1 year of full experience
By your timeline worst case, you would have three months or six months if you didnât get an internship
thatâs 6ish months of pay
thatâs like 75k
wait sorry wdym by this
since c1 pays 150k first year
Three months or six months of full time experience
Since Iâm guessing u start in September
what is worst case here? i dont get RO from summer intern?
Worst case u waste ur time and donât get an interview from any big tech company
And lose out of 75k of pay
And waste six months of ur life
if i dont get any intern offer id just start c1 in fall 2026
and finish my master part time
wdym
Like if u interned wouldnât it be summer of 2026
woudlnt standard start date if i intern this summer be fall 2026
oh I see
No itâs spring or summer 2026
September is pretty rare
Like most companies wanted me to start in June or July
i see so ig like if i get no internship summer 2026 i start c1 FT summer 2026 or i get intern 2026 summer(assuming i land a role) and do that and start C1 FT fall ( if i dont get RO for intern company)
Iâm not familiar with c1 start dates
But recently Iâve noticed companies being more stingy on start date
yeah true
if the dates lined up fine do you think id get in trouble for interning summer before i start FT tho
c1 keeps this server from unemployment
oh yeah fs im def grateful for c1 thats why i wouldnt risk losing offer
if ur aiming for smth higher theres still a good chance
me includedđ
im just scared imma get cooked with ng interviews vs intern
im just seeing everyone talk about how cooked ng recruiting isđ
so you guys dont think if i can intern summer 2026 and start c1 fall 2026 and hop if i get RO
and i should just recruit ng
bro ng recruiting is the same as interning
ng recruiting might have less positions but interning has people from 4 years of college + masters + phd students applying
im working ft at fid soon im thinking of leaving it off my resume while i continue to grind/interview for ng unless it takes long enough that i hit 1 yoe
thoughts @vocal tusk
cuz he probably wants leave fidelity asap. If he puts on his resume heâs already at fidelity, then companies wonât interview him since he already found a ng job
