yes, feelsbadman
i think i would feel less bad if i was told i just sucked, but instead the recruiter said i was great but they ran out of space
i’m not even sure if I quality for new grad next batch, I graduated in may 2024 and got laid off from my first job in december
nah ur eligible for bloomberg ng for a while
They open next batch in fall right? That’s going to be a while
alright thanks that’s reassuring
it’s an entry level role not technically ng so ur eligible for a long time
i’ll just put my timeline here in case it helps anyone else:
Dec 16 apply
Mar 20 technical with senior engineer
Apr 3 two onsites and HR
Apr 9 engineering manager
April 24 reject
Bruh I feel you @thick crest . I also had my first job and got laid off. This market is fucking brutal
damn bruh what’d yall do to get laid off
i refused to work 14 hours a day at a startup
being laid off right before christmas because i had a life to attend to on weekends is crazy, im never going to to apply to a startup again
I got laid off from Wayfair.
it was pre seed, no customers, they also lied about their runway during my first interview but i only found out 5 months in
lmaoooo
yeah pre seed is always incredibly risky
dw bro youll get other opportunities
bloomberg is def the complete opposite of a startup tho loll like 20 hour work weeks max
thanks man, though it’s pretty grim right now, i’m starting to feel regret leaving my previous industry tbh
yeah that’s what attracted me to them
I’m fine with even a 50 hour workweek, just not 90 hour
yea anytime i see the words "founding engineer"i try to stay away as far as possible
you got it in the bullseye lol
i’m dooming a bit but i’m also way older than the average new grad so i’m hitting my existential crisis right now
u did ur masters?
no i finished my bachelors, but im 26 because i was in the music industry for 3 years after high school
went from an unstable job market to another unstable job market
nah it’s horrible there too
really depends on the market, my niche is not at all market friendly right now
ah
a good backup plan i recommend to everyone is to apply to gt omscs and apply to internships
if u rly end up with nothing
I prob just gotta keep applying and hoping at this point, being from a T400+ university already scuffed my chances a lot
also do hella projects
i used to think they didnt matter until i started interviewing and ppl would ask me about them
i got some good ones, I have 6 but only fit 4 on my resume because the rest of the space is taken up with contract work exp
thats good
honestly if u landed a bloomberg interview u should be fine
just get em again in the fall
i’m a canadian citizen though so i dunno if im being rejected at the resume stage for unwillingness to sponsor visas or if the resumes just bad
i’m able to secure interviews with a lot of canadian startups paying 50k CAD but at this point i don’t want startups
Really sucks we have to go through the 5-round interview process all over again though, wish there was some way around that
hmm why
Because now it just feels like if I applied earlier, I would've had a better chance at getting the job. But I didn't apply earlier because I thought I'd still be at my first job.
If I got offers from every company, my first choice would still be BB, but now the earliest possible time to join BB would be one entire year later.
God, what? Why bother? What are they doing? I also had my Em 4/17 and haven't heard back yet. My rect told me it takes a week to know the final decision. Then I guess tmr is my day. SOOOO SAD.
dk if they have different pools for bs and ms, for most companies, its yes.
May I ask is this a phone call reject or an email one?
email, would be pretty cruel to book a phone call only to reject you imo
fyi mine took longer than a week, followed up this monday and received the response this morning
I saw one who got a call reject with the same hc reason in this channel.
oh man that’s just cruel
the first thing i’d think of someone scheduling a phone call after all the interviews is “offer”
exactly! #2025_grad_process message
