They (someone who works at zon, non-hr) said that you’re waitlisted because the team/org you matched to doesnt have a position. Other teams can pick from existing waitlists as well

Apparently you arent matched until your interview, the recruiter looks at your feedback, loosely matches your resume with what teams work on. Sends your resume to teams that might be aligned to your resume. They pick and choose.

Im not sure if amazon has a deadline by when you must accept your offer, but I’m pretty sure everyone just accepts and later reneges
