This was for the 2025 new grad role in Canada (Fungible SDEI FT)
Nov 15th, 2024 - Applied
Dec 10th, 2024 - Received OA
Dec 15th, 2024 - Completed OA
Dec 20th, 2024 - Invite to Interview
Jan 7th, 2025 - Interview Loop (Round 1 & 2; 3rd had to be rescheduled)
Jan 14th, 2025 - Third round
Jan 23rd, 2025 - Offer
How was interview loop?
Round 1 - 2 LPs + OOD (File search API; can be found on Leetcode)
Round 2 - 2 LPs + LC med? (standard "can you reach the end?" maze question)
Round 3 - variation of Number of Islands
I wasn't prepped for the OOD so I didn't do much OODing. Got too focused in solving the problem instead. Must of made it up in the LPs cuz I thought I bombed that.
2nd round technical was fine, tripped up a bit on one LP.
aced the 3rd round and ended the interview 20 mins early
start date, loc?
tc?
what was the lp u tripped up on?
June, Toronto office
https://www.levels.fyi/companies/amazon/salaries/software-engineer/levels/sde-i/locations/canada this is pretty accurate
"Tell me about a time you received criticism and what did you learn from it?" The part that tripped me up wasn't the question but the follow up when the interviewer asked me to quantify the results. Couldn't think of any metrics for the example I gave
.
I did the tagged amazon past 30 days on leetcode and practiced LPs by writing stories in star format in a google doc and asked gpt to refine them
each story could be used for 2-3 LPs and i'd say took ~5 mins each
include as much detail/metrics as you can
you can only do so much with technical since it's rng. But if you have solid LPs then I'd say you have a good chance even if one technical doesn't go too well
bc amazon prides itself on its leadership principles
this is something the leadership really cares about
also, check out Working Backwards
also LPs are a way for zon to figure out who really understands amazon
what was the job id

i think ur the first canada ng i've seen lately
idk why canada moves so slow or they been interviewing people that i just dont know
imma keep praying
i think there was maybe 1 other 2025 ng canadian, but yeah very slow. The other possibility is a lot of the 2024 interns accepted ROs so they don't need to fill as much hc in canada
is this the "can u reach end" problem https://leetcode.com/problems/the-maze/description/ ?
My premium sub ended so can't see it. but it was a simple maze where you could only move 1 cell at a time
do u remeber the name? i hve premium
basically trying to see from start if there is a continuous path to destination right?
yeah that's the idea. I don't remember a name, but I think the question was modified to be a truck trying to reach its destination
congrats! Got pretty similar tl till they never reschedule my last round of loop 💀 do u have specific recruiter ?
Hey did you portal change to no longer after consideration just after you got the OA for this role?
No specific recruiter
it did change to no longer under consideration, but I don’t know if it was after OA
And it remained like that while you were waiting for your interview right?
Thx congrats
Do you have to run the code or dry run?
dry run, you can't actually run the code
I thought it was 3 rounds in one day, but seems you did in two. Do you know if we can s3lect in interview availibility to do one round per day?
I have a ft job already and dont wanna do pto
it was supposed to be one day, the interviewer had a conflict which was why it was rescheduled
and no I think they try to do all rounds in a day
you only have the option to choose what dates
which lps to focus on for sde1?
good ones include dive deep, learn and be curious, customer obsession
and bias for action
if u have stories for those at least its a great start. also read this article

@serene jay
thank you
@bleak lion , can you please explain bit more about variation of Number of Islands?
what type of variation?
It was simple, instead of computing the number of islands the question asked for the islands themselves. You decide how to return it. I decided on a list of list of tuples
