(I also messaged her about what I could improve on but got ghosted)
Got the interview email - November 26th
Did the interview - December 10th
Got an offer - December 19th
@soft geyser did u get accepted? is that why your name is so
No he just got OA
yea its a month process
So just waiting for scheduler
for me anyways
Yep
Im just grinding neetcode in the mean time im anticipating the scheduler
Id be surprised if i didnt get final
Nothing crazy but i think its good
I just aced OA and LPs alongside a strong rezzie plus zon hires hella so idk
Just seems lots of odds r in my favor
gl i hope u get in as well
just gotta believe in yourself
Yeaaa
And practice a ton of leetcode ππ
So many ppl r getting hards and dp this season
So cooked
What was ur question?
Trapped rain water
CLASSIC
Dam
I hope i get something chill
But from the looks of everyone elses interviews, prob gonna get medium-hard
heard some people got sorting and two sum and blah blah atp i think u get anything from easy to hard
its all realistic
they also hired a lot less than last year
Oh fr???
according to a new grad
Theyre hiring less this year?
waitlist soon
who monitors the slack channel
he said they hired like 6k this year
compared to 10k last year or smth
maybe i got those numbers wrong but he said something along those lines
Theyre still midway thru hiring no?
I mean maybe theyre 6k deep so far
But no way theyre near hc???
his or mine
frieren is the peak
wait till it gets off hiatus
and it'll be true peak
serie's surely not gonna die π
what does orz mean
itβs dumb
Was he talking ab hc or progress in hiring so far
OH

that makes a lot more sense than an acronym i was trying to put together
but yea i hope we all get it
i like to believe effort will eventually be repaid best of luck to yall π
i got interviewed rngd
oh
Wat happen
sec let me go back
he's a new grad who got an RO from another disc
monitors the slack channel
progress so far
Ok tes progress so far
Makes sense
Yea i was like no way zon is at hc rn
No damn way
for reference 2 years ago
So as of jan theyre only at 6k
Yep
Zons been consistently going up 1k a year
From what ive seen
10k interns in a summer but this year alone has 6k in total
so idk
seems they're taking a lot less
2023 it seems
i was referring to this
but yea he means 2024 yea
so in 2024 they hired 6k interns
Last year they were handing out offers like candy
I remember
Actual free pickings
I knew some straight bots that got into zon
oh lol
i mean
its not even about whether a person is a bot or not
just how good their app is
No like
Their app was horrible
No projects except a game made in an entry level game design class like a freshman year class
Starbucks barista
Camp counseler
And TA
Thats it
ah yea i remember now i messaged someone on linkedin
for their resume
they had no projects
and uhh
all their experience was unrelated
it was kinda funny to me
π
Welp
At least u beat the system this year
Even tho it got harder
But i still gotta grind πππ
And pray
this is my only internship ever if we discount the last one that i got due to my uncle who used to work at this other no name company
Not yet
still waiting for scheduler
Yea
In theory i should get it
I mean ive done literally everything perfect so far
No
Not yet
I dont even think theyve sent out nee schedulers since last wave like a week ago
Thanks dood
Yeaa
Thats what i hope
I saw some others tho getting ghosted after OA
Despite aceing
So maybe they j failed LPs or weak rezzie? Idk
what is lp
Leadership principles
oh
No way u got an offer and never hesrd of LPs
but if they're getting ghosted
after oa
they didn't make it to interview
which is where lp part takes place
LPs r in OA
i just had 2 questions
Thats weird yea
i remember it distinctly
R u canada or US
us
cold apply
let me try to remember
Literally like 50 questions
Yes dude
def didn't
bro
my resume is some mediocrity
LMAOa
i know some students
created this platform
where other students post what apps got through if you want to take a look
:p
i was gonna ask them what prevents a person from just
uploading a resume and "saying" it got into x company
Do yk anyone else in proc for zon?
And if they got offer/final?
there's a whole discord of people who are in process / already got in
Just to get a sense of how many ppl r succeeding
Oh fr
ill dm u it
sent
Do u think theyd be any help in getting into zon? Or is it just like a chat room
Ok bet
u mind dming me also pls
good for u Frieren! STILL LOOKING FOR MY INTERVIEW
when did you finish oa?
Hey could you dm me too please
scroll up and read pls
1/5
Can you share the Amazon interviewer's name/ initials pl? @untold scroll
theres 1000s of interviewers
yes since they didn't respond
Do you know which team you will intern?
yes
How do you know that? They will tell you in the offer?
i emailed my hm
So you know the location, team, and manager now?
location is on the offer letter
they also tell you who your hm is
and you can just email your hm asking what team you're on
/ what they're on
which is most likely what you're on
Ohhh, thank you so much
i just want the OA man
A lot of people have messaged me asking what the interview / my process was like

If you want an in depth on the interview
It was done on Amazon Chime which is their video software. Interviewer came in we exchanged pleasantries blah blah blah. He told me to tell him about myself. For privacy purposes I will leave out specifics on what I say during the interview and exclusively showcase what the interviewer said but yea, his first thing was that he told me to tell him about myself. This is obviously the "first impression" part of a meeting so you'd ideally want to make a good one. You'd probably want to just talk about yourself, your education, and probably what motivates you. TO ALL THOSE SNOOZING THROUGH THIS WALL OF TEXT REMEMBER THIS ONE THING, LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLES. If I were you, I'd study those very hard and try to relate every one of your non technical answers to those principles, personally I would not outright point out how my words tie into their principles cause that seems a bit snobbish and inorganic. An example of a don't : "I did this and that shows / highlights my frugality." Try not to be too obvious and butter yourself up too much. Next question(s) were the basic behavioral questions such as :
-
Name a time when you did something that was out of your scope of responsibilities
-
Insert some generic behavioral question because I do not remember mine
Here, again you want to cater towards the principles but don't reference to them directly. If you still don't know what I mean by this, I'm not sure how else to explain it. Maybe an example works
_ _
So during blah blah blah we had this blah blah blah and my part in the project was x. Over the course of it, I realized insert problem. Despite it not really falling under my responsibility, I immediately took this up with the corresponding team mates and tried to alleviate said problem.
Well something like this, though the sentence itself seems a bit artificial, I'm sure you get the idea. The leadership principles this one caters to "Have Backbone; Disagree and Commit". You can probably expand this further and cater towards more leadership principles such as "Bias for Action" or really any of the other principles if you can tell it well enough.
_ _
One more tip for the behavioral part of the interview is to know your stories inside and out, this might just be me but my interviewer went somewhat deep into my examples and even tried to backtrack them sometimes to make sure it checks out.
Last part was the technical portion of the interview. My question in this case was trapped rain water. They make you code in this text editor not an IDE that autocompletes for you so make sure you know your shit or at least have some remote idea of what is supposed to be your shit. I've seen a lot of ways to do this online by various people but what I did was :
1 Read the problem step by step
2 Reiterate the problem back to yourself and the interviewer to make sure that he understands that you understand the question at hand
3 Try to come up with a solution, without coding, think intuitively. I find a good trick that works here, which also came from the book "Cracking the Coding Interview" is to think about how you would normally do it because humans most of the time, solve things in pretty optimal ways.
4 Write your solution down, and try to explain while writing it, what this portion of the code is supposed to do
5 When you're done with your code, you will be asked to test your algorithm by hand, aka run through a example test set, and go through why your algorithm works by actually going through it.
6 When you're done with a general example you might want to go through edge cases to show the interviewer that you've really thought about a correct solution and to prove to yourself that it actually works 100% of the time
Remember that your interviewer is human. If you don't understand the question, you can ask him for his own iteration of what the problem is asking you.
Also remember that if you fail, it is not the end of the world. While Amazon is a prestigious company, it is not the end all be all. You will probably end up getting a decent enough job / internship as long as you put the work in.
Oh I've just realized that some people might ask how I prepped. I just took a look at the leadership principles, went through a list of stories I had and try to remember the details in and out. I also did maybe 10 questions a day off the blind 75 a few days leading up to the interview but there are probably more optimal ways to study.
Good luck B)
very nice of you to outline this π
and the above
very useful and generous for u to provide this. Thanks
and wow, only 10 LC? wtf π
keeps the ngmi away
Oh, jesus
