I think anyone would tbh
Databricks off season maybe
Even recruiters would renege lol
blind is telling me otherwise lol
like ask databrick to defer the offer?
don't take databricks over open ai
this man is capping his ass off
ask if they allow u to do fall or spring
POGGGG
will do that
Whether that Pinterest person wants ur downfall or they are delulu
this man is dying of jealousy
he would do unspeakable things just for an OAI r1
lol

had my final last tuesday btw
@maiden hemlock take everything ppl on blind say w a grain of salt cuz most of them r just projecting and r talking out of their ass. I alr interned at DB. I'd (and prob anyone else) would go w OAI anyday. My friend got NG at OAI and they said they will do internal liquidation events every 2yrs for everyone in the company to participate in. This means its garunteed u can sell a % of ur PPUs ("shares") internally for cash.
DB also just raised a massive round meaning theyre gonna continue to hold off IPO (who knows for how long at this point), and they offer no liquidation events at all for ppl w/ < 5 yrs at the company. Funny enough, you will actually make more in short term from ur OAI shares vs DB shares (as NG)
damn I see
thanks for the insight 🙏
oai over all
grats!
ngl i would take databricks
actually
nvm
databricks probably has cooler work for interns though
congrats
im also an openai new grad, this is not guaranteed
openai comp is also lower than databricks in the short term
Also important to mention that ur DB experience will be significantly team dependent imo. They won’t assign teams till the internship begins, but if ur on some cutting edge stuff like Mosiac or query optimizers then I’d def take that but most of my intern friends didn’t like their team/experience (mostly infra and full stack ppl). I’d imagine the average teams work at OAI is more interesting than DB for that reason
How so? Open AI base is higher and there’s no way to liquidate DB RSUs rn barring an IPO
openai new grad base is like 160
and databricks has annual buybacks right?
oh 5y at the company
yeah, openai does 2
Nah there’s no buybacks at all, at least not for non senior ppl
I’m p sure very infrequent buybacks for seniors as well (last one was 2020 I think) cuz I remember lots of senior Eng telling me they’re fed up and pressuring leadership for liquidity lol - hence that giant funding round they just did
ah i see ok
then yeah
Maybe they’re tryna change it now tho idk. It seems like lots of late stage private companies r starting to offer buybacks
blind is praying on ur downfall
