what if they are at headcount and stackrank the remaining candidates so that the top gets newly opened spots (from others reneging)

and they want to have their intern class finalized before they come back to the office in 2025, which is “3-6 weeks from now”

and people who they know def won’t ever be at the top of the stack are the ones who got rejected, rest of us ‘waitlisted’

so their hiring spree was just crazy looking because they smushed the intern hiring timeline, not because they acc expanded head count (or at least not as much as we thought)

i don’t know anyone who interviewed after 11/11 that got an offer

Don’t think they are anywhere near hc, based on my estimates from cscd server and ppl getting offers at my school (t5 cs target for meta who sent like 50+ kids this past summer) i think roughly 300-500 offers have been sent out, which is less than last years hc of 900-1400. My best guess is that recruiters are taking PTO (time off) before and after thanksgiving break and don’t want ppl bothering them until its absolutely necessary, and they have a huge backlog of candidates for intern to review since they’ve been focusing on ng offers for the past few weeks (as it is end of cycle for ng roles). They also have a ton more interviews scheduled now compared to late oct/early nov, since its the middle of the season so they have more offers to review. They want to keep that 3-4 week buffer so they don’t get bombarded with emails ab people asking updates since they’ve historically sent updates in 2-4 days.

This is just my 2 cents and i could be wrong though
