so

  1. did oa
  2. did some recruiter call (like 15 min chat about experience, the position)
  3. got rejected
  4. is this how mathworks just works? i def BOMBED the OA like 1/4 test cases on coding; and then questionable performance on remainder questions.

so my confusion is: why didnt mathworks just autoreject me after OA? and why did they call in the first place????

like. or did i just reek in the recruiter call so much that i wasnt able to make up for the failed oa?

They like your resume? Then probably headcount hits or something

possible, and i think thats the best faith assumption

#

im just paranoid because there was a q that was like

#

"what did you like/not like about your previous employer"

#

and i feel for my response like i was just not articulate / not on my A game bc i was like lowkey sleep deprived

#

because i said something like "lots of tech debt bad and politics are bad"--and i dont really know a better answer because i really liked my prev company; and when respond to whether i would consdier going back full time i said "they dont have headcount"

#

like ig what im looking for is "would there have been a way to like give myself an edge by being. nicer. or being more personable or saying something diff"

#

aND LIKE AT THE END OF THE CALL IM LIKE "... so what are the next steps" (recruiter didnt volunteer the information) and then its like "iF the committee says u pass go in"

they prob pass on your info to someone else - very likely the reviewing person saw your resume, OA and phone call notes for the first time all at once, alongside all the other candidates. i wouldn't stress too much about your phone call answers being the determining factor bc there are so many other things at play too!
