Congrats !!
behavioral: lots and lots of LP-focused questions (make sure to show how you focus on any customers above all else)
location: HQ1 Seattle region (didnt get to choose)
timeline: interview date was set to 2 weeks after i received scheduling survey, fast turnaround with offer sent out just 3 days after
oa: did not do close to perfect at all on technical, confident on work simulation behavioral. they do manually look at oa’s as well so this was a rare oa where you don’t need to ace it to move on
What was technical like? Does tagged Lc help?
LC question was framed as an OOD question where you decide on variables and class structure; I simplified it to a common Blind 75/NC150 question
what u had to design?
Make sure to review OOD design patterns to help talk over your choices; if i hadnt skimmed over them beforehand i woulda been boned
like factory singleton stuff?
yep yep
oh i be skipping over them lol
They were both common amazon OOD questions this year (search around on the discord and online, they were two of the questions that popped up most for others)
like parking lot, elevator
thankfully did not get the unix file system one, no clue how ppl do that on the spot
yea didnt even try to do that one
role: generic SDE new grad 2024 posting
timeline?
Did you know your interviewers before hand ?
5/15 application
6/26 received OA
7/2 finished OA
8/7 invitation
8/20 interview loop
8/23 offer
8/24 thru Sept self care after recruiting for years đź«
When they confirmed my interview loop my itinerary came with the interviewer names
What is factory singlton
design patterns - https://github.com/ashishps1/awesome-low-level-design/tree/main
what was them?
What was your prep strategy for LPs?
how many design patterns are expected?
🍕🥤
Wrote out 9-10 interview stories and made sure each one maps out to multiple LPs. IMO it’s okay to have multiple stories from one internship/project/etc but have enough content that you can dive deep into as they will probe details from your stories. I like using a PAR format for telling my stories instead of STAR to focus more on delivering results, but that is a personal preference
I found the singleton, factory, and decorator patterns useful (when i showed my understanding of how to format my design according to these patterns my interviewer was pleased) but if you have OOP experience in say Python/Java then reviewing what scenarios you can best use each pattern for to quickly iterate on your design will be best, as they will ask you to make modifications and additions to your design along the way. Focus on readability of your code and thinking about how others may use it in the future, for OOD/LLD unlike LC they don’t want you to just spam out fast spaghetti code
Thanks, I will DM you!
add amazon to your search lmao
Got it. Also was there anything on operation systems in your interview like threads or processes?
nahhhhh if it not a specialized posting its theres nothing like that
Okay. I’m sorry for all the questions but I have just one more. Were there any questions like on the VJT where you have to rate the effectiveness of each response or what would you do in this situation? Or is it just like “tell me about a time when” stories?
If you are at the OA stage the work assessment has a lot of statement rankings etc
For the interview loop they’re all “tell me about a time when” stories framed in context of the zon LPs
thanks for getting back. One last thing were you asked tagged LC questions? if yes how many tagged is sufficient?
I had a blind 75/zon tagged graph problem for my sole LC question; there really is no solid number of qs to prepare for as difficulty and type can be so variable (and ive been failing interviews more than many of my friends over the past 2 years)
I’m familiar w somewhere around 100-150? LC problems but tbh whatever number you need to have an intuition to solving the common LC med types would be good. Then pray for a question you’ve seen before so you can explain yourself with confidence LOL
Got it. Thank you so much for the information. Also did you had one round full of LP? were the LP questions aligned with new grads?
Each round was ~30 min LP ~30 min LC or OOD
All my stories were from internship/school and it was enough for me to get on w the rest of my life lmao
Cool. Thank you so much for your response and congratulations to you. Have a great time at Amazon 🙂
Did you know your team before the interviews ?
