I am struggling to understand why people are calling microsoft interviews easy. From seeing the results, it clearly is not.

dapper timber
#

nope but will have it next week

#

but the results so far look scary

dapper timber
#

next tuesday

#

how about you?

upper osprey
#

i heard quite a few people go system design Qs

dapper timber
#

I thought msft only asks system design for new grads and up

upper osprey
#

Here are a Qs someon got

How would you design the backend of a purchasing system for a product?

upper osprey
dapper timber
#

wow, it's crazy sophomores are being asked system design

hopefully they accept a relatively high level design explanation

  • microservice architecture: split the backend into various services (product, payment, ordering, inventory) so each can be individually scaled to accommodate high user traffic
  • Relational database (i.e. PostgreSQL) to store product information, as transactional consistency is essential
  • Kafka or some sort of message queue to handle async updates to inventory (for example, when user buys product, inventory must decrease)

and some more details regarding an example user flow, REST API design, etc.

lol 150 is crazy

#

no way there's been 150 in the span of 3 days

dapper timber
#

who was the other one that got rejected?

#

I see only one msft reject after final in the process channel

#

n=1 so I might very well be wrong. I think we’ll just have to wait for more people to post results
