#Summer 25 intern. Should I settle for C1 or aim higher? Do I have a shot at FAANG?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
like C1 can be a backup
unless there's an offer acceptance deadline
then maybe accept then decline later if you get something better
they cant really stop you from withdrawing can they?
reneging?
oh hmm
how would they be able to verify this?
like couldnt you jsut come up with an excuse
like "family stuff" type shit
why would they tell the school?
can they do that?
like do they have the power to block you from campus recruiting?
maybe for just C1 but for other companies?
huh how?
how is this the first time im hearing of this kind of thing
have you applied to FAANG?
google opened and close already
oh thats good
hmm honestly im not sure
give me a sec to look at your resume closer
yea who gives a shit lmfao
renege all u wnat
companies dont give a shit
to us when they lay us off
we’re a employment at will country usually
good enough resume, maybe move honors and award to bottom
but ur goated bruh
also idk
i hate ur resume format
just feels ugly to me
idk why
🤣
sections are not distinct enough
like just having them bolded isnt really enough
it would be nice it there was a line fully separating them
yeah pls use a resume template in pages or microsoft or latex
or if this is a template
it an ugly one
😂
otherwise tho
bruh u got some cool shit
especially ur file format stuff
yeah
if u can pass the interviews
ik mentees
who only had udemy courses
when i teach them
so ur more than fine
just gotta optimize consistency
during interviews
- target pipelines
which the substack has articles on
do u
use a template when solving questions? if not
during an interview
ull prob fail
u need to maximize against rubric
not solving
what i mean by rubric
i see ppl like u a decent amt
where they optimized for leetcode solving
but never get offers
bc they end up not structuring well
their communication and analysis
so when they put ur points for it
what can they say?
great coding maybe 4/4
but maybe communication and analysis of the question and edge cases between 2/4 to 3/4
which can make ur results more varied
obvs everyone has their own experience
but this is what i taught to everyone
to try to consistently score offers
cause it comes down to rubric consistency
free trial abuse
i turn on the button
just sign up and immediately cancel
or fake card
for the future
when u need to free trial abuse more
this shouldnt be paywalled
other than my videos
this is paid wall, cause well i had a lot of research xD
and i need some subs haha
yeh
but i literslly turn on free trial
and my table of content
links to the
free trial abuse article
😂
im more than ok ppl abusing it
bad luck last two years
rn is upticking
in hiring
but also rn is bit early
yeah it early rn
and also quants super competitive
talk about timelines here
^
and tips for specific companies
ahhh
well
all those
are competitive
lol
i never try too hard for unicorns
since it inconsistent
that just my own opinion
i only like consistent companies
and the faangs are pretty hard to beat once u hit meta / google
i taught friends for databrick / have datapoints on the others. tbh, benefits are too crazy divergent
and even less in many cases
dun get me wrong tho
could go rich
yeah, more variance to get in + also benefits arent necessarily comparable to faang, or maybe lot paper money, so on
yeah once u hit google / meta
the benefits are pretty much top
other than quant
google/meta will go further
google/meta imo
i see tons ppl from faang bg
u just naturally pull more doors
since to everyone else
they dont weigh unicorns so heavily
like we do
just my opinion
some exceptions
quant is a diff field all tgt
no real comparable
quant is quant
faang is faang
quant ppl live their own bubble imo
rapid fire go
no
i had a 2.8 gpa
to give an idea
i had mentees not even with a cs degree
so on
maybe some care
like tiktok
or chinese based companies
oh maybe quant cares
yeah
tbh i hate finance
so xD can do whatever
finance = abuse
is meh
the project is decent
the leadership as u said is whatever
but rlly u only have two points there anyways
it def just resume filler
ur other stuff
is more impressive
so idrc
especially ur work experiences
are already solid
and written well
and also stand for themselves
in complexity and impact
is whatever
yeah
but its fine
ur a student
not everything needs to be killer
no one rlly reads it imo
after a certain point
it sort of
good enough to get in
is my mindset
sounds good
if u got such a thing
but not the end the world
tbh
🤷
ur already solid enough
but if u wanna / in the process
i see no harm
i just used to replace and adapt as i go
and have more stuff
xD. i think its impressive, dont get me wrong, but i just find it weirdly placed
rather it at the top or bottom
not in the middle
Yeah i think also
ur obvs insanely good
so i rather that come out in interview
id like super sharpen
that sell
have a friend i help mentor
went from bachelor to phd at mit for ml
so we rlly sharpen
everything academic and research for her +
just once she introduces herself
we have it locked in
obvs most of it still just lc sadly lol
but these things
can make the diff
between u hired vs not
no xD. sorry, it too hard to explain cause i usually do 1:1 for this.
but the tldr is have a concise theme that links to everything.
like ur introduction is it an underdog or rise to hero story
when they ask about ur project how do u sell it
they obvs will ask follow ups like technical challenges, is this ready so on
yeh
i teach all my mentees to think large bulletpoint ideas
so they can pull it all dynamically
when they speak
yeah my main thing for u is
ur solid
so if u get an opportunity
make sure to convert
by maximizing consistency
it sounds like that the part ur missing
in ur prep
yeh hopefully the articles can explain it all
if anything feel free ask
if im desd here
just ping me my server
i burst on and off here
