the email invitation said US but the meeting name was Canada so not sure
i just wanna say what i was asked to help other people cause that helped me a lot
1st interview: 2 LCs
2nd interview: 1 OOD, 2 LPs
3rd interview: all LPs
the LCs were very similar to tagged ones
so knowing the approach + data structures helped
do u have to run ur code for the LCs? @scenic bridge
all interviews are given LiveCode link, its an editor but no compiler so i cant run anything
also a tip for anyone interviewing: look up ur interviewers. My first one was w an SDE, second manager, third someone outside the team (so knew it would be LPs only)
What helped you prep for the OOD? Got mine in about a week!
Mine (Canada, also today) was 3x60: 1 ood + LP, 1 lc + 1 ood, 1 pure LP.
i legit googled OOD amazon and OOD interviews. Theres forums where people say the problem and sometimes solution. So i practiced writing it out and then compared it to their solutions
ah i see, thanks man I hope you get it!
thank you
i had the same thing for me. did you apply for US or Canada or both?
did it say US in the interview email for you or did it say Canada?
yea applied to both
yeah same, im not sure which one the interview is for either tbh
i am canadian tho, so its prolly canada
my email didnt say location
yeah same, i might try to email to ask them to change to US? not sure if that would do anything though lol
its weird tho, some recruiter reached out to apply to a different role (new grad, Canada), I did and then the email linked to the US role which i didnt apply to
but pretty sure mine was for Canada
if you do, lmk what happens
i also noticed two of my interviewers are US and one was Canada, don't know if they interchange for all interviews
^from their linkedin
oh hmm thats weird, im not too sure which one it counts as then. did you end up applying to the US or Canada one then?
oh weird, all of mine were American so i'm equally as confused
I had applied only to Canada so I'm assuming its a mistake because my interviewers were in Canada
i couldn't find the recruiter (who sent the interview confirmation email) on linkedin so im not sure if they're US or CAD
at least 2 of them were*, not sure on the last cuz i dont think i found the right linkedin for them
ahh okay yeah im thinking thats definitely Canadian then?
honestly still not sure if they congregate the new grad interview process together or not
has to be, I would need h1b sponsorship for us lol
are they doing h1b sponsorship? i heard some people were international
I also did fill out location preference form for Canada so its only the email where the linked the wrong role I'm sure
oh you got a location preference form? I didn't receive any form like that. when did you get this form and where in the process (like after the OA and before the final)?
to be honest the more I go over my inbox the more it confuses me, but I did answer a survey for location, immigration, etc
Maybe because Canada only has 2 locations
Did you guys apply to the Canada role and the email says something like: Amazon Interview Confirmation - Software Dev Engineer(US)?
dang you had 2 ood questions?
i really gotta practice ood
oh yeah maybe, but im confused then why i didn't get a location/immigration survey too then
i applied to both and got an email saying that same thing. do you know if that means US or Canada?
yea
i applied to both
yea i didn't get one either
I think its random, mine says "Amazon Opportunity – INTERVIEW CONFIRMATION - <My Name>"
also if ur canadian, you don't need visa for US. Just TN status
It might be the team since I don’t need immigration support for the U.S.
how long after your OA did you get your interview availbility survey
Almost a month
roughly a week for me
hey, can someone tell me what is OOD and LP?
yeah ik but i figured if they are offering H1B, i might take it
yea i would too
I wouldn’t mind getting an offer for the states
When did you guys finish your interviews
wait so you applied to Canada, got the interview (with the Software Dev Eng(US)) title, and then applied to US?
Object Oriented Design and Leadership Principles
OOD is object oriented design (definitely look up Amazon OOD questions for preparing for the interview) and LP is Leadership Principles (more behavioural type questions where you tailor your answers to Amazon's LPs)
Yeah
just a few hours ago
^same
15 days for me
i think that means its for Canada then, not US meaning maybe that email title of Software Dev Engineer(US) is misleading
does it say anything else for you after that part in the email title?
It says UCD
oh yeah maybe that too, honestly Amazon's hiring portal and automated emails need some work
yeah same for me, im not sure what that means either
I did mine Monday and the wait is killing me
yea mine said UCD
i think you should have it by end of week? cuz their usual timeline is within 5 days
googled it and it should mean "user-centred design"
lmao i got UC Davis
Yeah
oh LOL
also checked my interview confirmation email and the recruiter is US but im not sure if that matters?
idk its one of their teams so i figured maybe i was interviewing w that team
for the LC is it like an OA where there is instructions for code or does the interviewer just read you the problem?
yeah i thought that too but my interviewers were for all different teams so idk
mine too, only "canadian" part is the meeting name and one interviewer
its like the OA where they provide a prompt and you code it out but you dont actually run any of the code
they paste the problem into the editor for you
awesome awesome
yeah this is so weird, i wish they were a lot more clear on this stuff
what was the meeting name
i did send an email to the recruiter asking for clarification and said that i had a preference for US based locations so i'll let you know if i get anything back
the meeting name had Canada in it so thats why im confused
were you guys able to solve every leetcode. One of my roundsI had 2 and I couldn't finish the second but the interviwer said I my approach was correct
i was able to get through the leetcode and then the interviewer would give a follow-up for each question (like a harder modification to the same question) and I talked through how i would solve it but didn't get a chance to fully create the code for it (maybe finished like 80% of the code for both of the LC with the advanced version)
sorry if this is redundant but OOD we have to code it out right? we cant just verbally say what goes into the class/functions right
yeah you first talk about it (talk about which classes and functions you'll implement and also ask questions) and then you have to code it out too. but most of OOD questions are just about setting up your classes, init functions with class variables, and methods. the last part is doing the actual task but thats usually like LC easy/easy-medium level tbh
how many questions total did u get asked in the all-LP round ?
i think i got like 5-6?
4 i think but lots of followup questions for each one. like we went really in depth on what exactly i did
Are the onsite LC question easier than the OA LC questions?
mine were, yes
but they emphasize importance of your problem-solving skills and knowing time+space complexities
