Can you share interview experience? What type of questions you got
When did you give your interview
congrats
Canada or US
congrats! offer location ?
.
- Applied - early June
- Received OA - mid June
- Received Virtual Onsite Invite - early Aug
- Completed Virtual Onsite - late Aug
- Received Offer - within 5 days of completing onsite
3x60. first was mix of behavioral and coding, but coding focused more on writing clean code rather than optimizing. second was 2 leetcode style questions. third was all behavioral
sometime last week
US
Did you get OOD question?
Boston
How did you feel about your behavior round ?
no
felt pretty good. probably the strongest part
Was it on thursday/friday?
I am waiting for my result too
Also what does clean code mean 🤔 making sure the code works? And not about optimization
Also was your behavioral resume focused or LP focused
Thats great! Congratulations 🥳
like the problem was very easy, so i'm not entirely sure what they were evaluating me on. i'd assume it's making sure i'm not overcomplicating the solution and writing code that's easy to change and read
thank you!
Did you receive any feedback or good indications during your interviews?
not really, besides the occasional "that's great to hear, sounds like you learned a lot from taht experience"
Nice , congrats btw!
thanks!!
Firstly congrats!!
How did you prepare for the LPs
Do you prepare an answer for each of the LPs?
i just thought of stories throughout my last 4 years. Any notable experiences I have been engaged in, and any conflicts or difficulties I faced in them
how did you feel about the leetcode style questions?
i wanted to ask did you prepare stories for every leadership principle? and also were your LC questions from the amazon tagged?
and the LC is it white board coding? so they wont actually run your code right
were u put in boston automatically or did u get a questionnaire for location preferences
i put boston as first choice
did well on one of them, didn't fully solve the other
no i didn't. LC questions were not tagged
yes
i filled out a questionnaire. boston was not first pref, but it's the only one offered to me
ah icic
@vale patio what team is it for? did you know during the interview or do they only tell you after accepting the offer?
I was told ahead of time it's for AWS
how early?
when i got my interview invite
@vale patio any last minute tips for someone who has theirs tmmrw
are there flexible start dates or do u start right away
they gave me a date, and i asked if i could join earlier. they allowed me to join 1 week earlier if i sign my offer sooner
have some stories ready to go and make sure you specify the impact you delivered. for programming, explain your thought process. the interviewers are truly there to help you so if you're stuck, they can more easily help if you talk through what you're doing. you are not necessarily going to fail if you can't solve the problem, but you will fail if you can't explain what you were doing or what you were attempting. there should not be an extended period of time where you are not speaking. most importantly, relax and be confident. good luck, you got this!
Is it terrible if you struggle a bit in LP interview round? Aka struggle to answer one of the LPs
hard to say since i don't know how they evaluate. but if you answer most of them well and do fine on the programming, you should be fine. they're not looking for perfection
At what stage did you fill out the ques for location?
cool cool ty, so just keep communicating what ur thinking/doing, how many distinct LP stories should i have is it 4 or 5?
was ur first prefs seattle or bay area?
thx for sharing info. around how many follow-ups per question did u get asked for LP stuff?
when i got invited for interview
yeah i'd say that's a good target
bay area was not an option. i put bellevue as #1 (seattle was not an option either)
wait when was the questionarre
sent out
i think i filled one out when i applied not sure tho
I got it with my interview invite iirc
o ye i did not
In the survey? They didn’t ask me anything about location lol
wat do u wear to virtual interviews like this
tank top
is OOP done in python or do u guys use java for that?
my recruiter sent me an email with location preferences the same day I received my OA, did you get this questionnaire?
oh we got different positions
mines was slightly different, and most of the locations were different
mine is for Software Dev Engineer FTE
is fte full time equivalent?
no clue
i think my position is just fungible SDE new grad
thats what my OA said
i have this question too @vale patio
I am pretty sure you can use what you prefer
^
@vale patio were you ever in contact with a specific recruiter or did you just get emails from a general amazon student programs team?
specific recruiter
when did they first contact you? bc i’ve only gotten emails from general asp which is slightly concerning ….
when I received my onsite invite. i mentioned the timelines at the top
@vale patio may i ask which school? just trying to understand if amazon is filtering only top schools?
It's a T25 school
what was the title of the interview confirmation email for you? im trying to see if my interview was for US or Canada
i dont remember
hey congratulations - if you remember do you know what the start date options you got for 2024 new grad?
