somebody help
😭
why are you crying lol this resume is pretty good
only thing i would change is putting the skills section at the bottom
ty very much, lots of ppl said that
I’ll do it🤗
But I’ve applied plenty of 25 summers intern and get not interview
I do not have green card
all auto OA
did not get google 25 summer OA
AC Optiver OA and get reject
pretty sad😭
same bruh
@novel slate It also way too early lol
Even the Google 25 summer OA was a very small batch
https://justinlin.substack.com/p/how-to-actually-get-the-interviews
I know some of these don't apply to use since ur on visa, but wrote a bunch of tips here that could be helpful
Your resume is good, very impressive that uve been at alibaba and bilibili! I think ur too technical in ur jargon, but otherwise it's good
ty very much!
your issue is permanent work authorization
move skills to bottom
is any formating problem besides skills?
use xyz format
Writing a fantastic resume is not easy. Here are the most important things you need to know to substantially improve your resume right now.
state ur impact first
then explain what u did
also use chatgpt to improve on phrasing for ur bullet points, they are a bit hard to read
ty very much, im bad at english
alr used gpt, need polish it more carefull
u dont need the company group name
also dont need to have the full companh name on there
so just a short title for the company?
ye
u dont need to include the location of the internship cuz recruiters view foreign internships as sus
That’s correct
So hide my interns location
Just the period date?
yea
i didnt even get optiver oa🚬
doomed
I’m alr 22 and no intern
More Doomeder
everything is rng
its chinese intern, useless in us
hard to read cuz format not content?
in china is true
is china they are both top tier company and hard to get in
but not useful in united states
my friend got canada internship and got lots of oa
and interview
thx
bold the quantitative result?
thanks!! I hope got interview after modify it
its a pretty good story i think
omg i thought the precise number will be more authenticity
canada is more doomed
thats correct, I leaked it...
why
oh u go to rice?
cuz i lead this entire project, so i know the detail, youre true, its a red flag
yeah ill be there after a week
true, lots of ppl criticize alibaba
and tiktok maybe beat it in the future
very cool, i have a few friends there. At least in undergrad rice is a small tight-nit community & everyone is p smart
thanks!!!!
yeah, but im master student and my goal is find a job
omg, but alibaba is still very strong
True, but jobhunting in the US is like 50% networking lol
rice has a pretty strong network
true, I will changed it to '$1+ million'
idk if the US actually bans TikTok that'll be a bad time
work full time
there's the global market but US market is the largest
sde in china is toxic
ahhh yeah haha 9-9-6 LMFAO
US is very come and go whenever as long as u get ur shit done i feel like
in aliababa its like 9 10 6 or 9 11 6
😭
cool
most the people in this server r gonna be ABCs btw
Asian people really love their CS degrees
haha
but i think its harder to get a job in us than china
Yeah cus the pay is like $200,000/year and you work 9-5-5 or 9-4-5
esp for internationals its difficult i think
yeah, thats fair enought
thats correct, my undergrade seems like trash in us
but can help me get lots of big tech interviews in china
its litearlly a top uni in shanghai tho?
rice is still really good
true
use your rice network tho. The thing ab rice is their population is so small that ppl are very inclined to help out those who went to / are going to same shcool
that is stronger than my uni
this is a natioanlly ranked uni i beleive, east china science and tech is like a T50 rather than a T10
like the student who are already graduate from rice?
No i'm currently an undergrad at a different university. I have a few friends in rice tho and they all do p good
I know a lot of my classmates
from china or rice?
communicate with job etc..
from china
oh they can definitely give u referals
I still in china now, gonna goto rice next week
cold apps < referrals < POC Programs
Ooh, safe travels
my school is like T30 in china
yea
i meant like
PoC programs
and underpriv programs
sorry that prob came off wrong LMFAO
lemme change that
i searched it up east china uni of sci and tech has 16,000 undergrads
rice has 4,000
so it should be quite dif
omg so small
only have 1.5y time to study in there
and only 1 chance to find a summer intern
alr if we are doing this lets be more formal
E[cold apps] < E[career fairs] < E[PoC Programs] < E[career fair | a recruiter likes u a lot] < E[relevant internship experience]
reach out lots of chinese student now
dk how to know other country ppl in the internet
exactly, that's why rice ppl are so likely to help out other rice ppl. It's the same as if someone from your HS reached out to you
rice 's facebook or reddit or discord is all dead
LOL
they probably ahve a custom rice-only app/forumn or talk in person
correct, not gonna let that opportunity slip
US college culture is not very online
1.5? why not 2?
the standard graduate time is 1.5y
oh LMFAO
but we can enlarge it by dropping some class
gonna goto us soon, ill buy a phone number then
8.16's flight
worst case do a PhD tbh. You get housing and food for free, and get paid $20,000-$30,000 USD to do whatever you want
and then u get 7 years to find a job
😅
i do not have any research exp before

def use US contact
get some in college 💀
any lab will be happy to have u i think
ill find whether is rice easy to transfer to phd
a lot of labs have a ton of academic/mathy talent but severely lack any real engineering skills
getting on a paper where someone needs engineering and getting second author out of it while learning research skills isnt bad
then after like 6 months to a year u can do ur own project
that sounds cool
yeah i know a little pytorch and ml though
I'll look around the school to see if there's any opportunities for a PhD transfer.
sorry, what do you mean by this?
should practice more in english😭
i see, yeah definitely do that! Even if you don't feel qualified apply anyway, the US education system is more holistic than the rest of the world, so thet'll take your circumstances into consideration too
Your english is better than my chinese for sure haha
ty very much for helping me
ofc
I'll try my best!!
also remove the location of ur internships entirely and don't specify it was in china unless asked lol
yeah, will do that
that was my one resume comment which i originally came here for haha
ill def update it and apply harder!!
it's pretty obvious this guy is an international from this resume
