After what stage??
software engineer i in mountain view
got ghosted for a month after the 4 interview stage
Sry this happened to you. Hope you have better luck with the next company.
thanks (: i really appreciate that. i need the luck!
4 interview stages? wtf
what was the process
oh no that wasn’t clear sorry - it was 2 stages, 1 45 minute technical screening, then 4 1 hour long interviews
What was the 4 1 hour long interview and 1 45 minute technical screening
I am curious
all were basic coding and system questions with behavioral questions afterwards
This is for IC2?
How did you think it went?
So 45 min was LC, and how many of the 4 1 hr interviews were LC, sys design, and behavioural?
I heard sys design at Microsoft is only given to senior engineers and above
incorrect assumption
i went in with the same assumption
2 of them were sys design, i wasn’t prepped at all for the first one of those (because u didn’t think it was coming) and had no idea what to do with it
the other 2 - 1 LC problem, then 2 LC problems
honestly i was a bit confused by the entire process. it was a software engineer role, the first guy i talked to implied it was a devops role, so i did my due diligence and came with devops questions for the second person i talked to, and he was like no this is a software engineer position
then i talked to the first guy again and he was talking devops again
so, i dunno. wishing better luck to you guys 🫶
Damn there seems to be so much randomness with Microsoft interviews
On the bright side Microsoft has no cooldown so u can apply to other roles/teams immediately if u want
Huh nice, even after getting rejected after a final? I didnt know that
Bruh
I think i've applied to minimum 50 roles
and all rejection
getting the interview from msft is probbaly the hard part
prolly different if you went to a decent to good school
Damn
Yeah and Microsoft recruiters tend to be ass too, getting a reply from them is damn near impossible
45 min was LC - was it related to trees and graphs? How did you study for the 45 min round?
I just did as much LC as possible. It will depend on whoever’s interviewing you, so just throw your net wide. Will probably be an easier medium
and remember it’s not about seeing them all so that you’ll have memorized every problem they might put in front of you
it’s about setting up a toolbox so that you can effectively problem solve
they don’t want to see that you already know how to do it, they want to see how you work through the problem!
so what was your interview question related to
Trees, graphs, etc?
