There are non-dei conferences...
Also no you're not "cooked"
Also wdym by larping? Are you implying that you would lie about your identity to get into a conference?
where did i imply that?
i'm just saying some ppl do but i would not like to, which is why i'm asking for alternatives
what non-dei conferences would you suggest? the ones i've looked at seem to have a lot less sponsors/partners even though ticket prices are similar which is annoying
when you mentioned larping, then saying you were cooked
hackathons are a great option
also there is greylock
plus university recruiting events
also a lot of companies have virtual hiring panels which you should make use of
i still don't get how that would imply something i specifically said i wasn't gonna do
any notable ones worth flying out for?
also i'll look into greylock, thx
you never said it originally, but ok
i'm Canadian so I'm not too aware of American Hackathons
But I'd assume any hackathon from a major school with a lot of sponsors would be good
yeah idk my school's major hackathon used to have good sponsors but it feels like it's getting worse
Same here
Although I did get a job offer from my schools hackathon
Granted, it wasnt a great company
but an offer is an offer
yeah fs that's cool
hopefully there's a rebound tho
i bet the layoffs hit the uni programs they send to these events pretty bad since ig it's "expendable"
It’s not larping if you’re involved with your schools SHPE chapter lol
@thorny timber
any conferences that are related to your field and aren't terrbily wallet busting is worth.
for ex there is an ml/ai conference in san jose this june (5-6 i think) that i'm attending for free
