How long did the secruity process take for you?
@short terrace
Can you provide your timeline?
In initial offer not final yet
But i heard it can take up to 2 month or more
I got mine now too
Can I dm you there’s so many steps
oh shit, is it a cjo?
Bruh they are hiring every CS major in the damn country
I’m actually amazed they have this much money
What tc did you get
Its defense budget. That's like 40% of US GDP
85k
Sickkk I’m waiting for mine to come in a few days after they approve my docs
How long do u think it will be till first day idk what to do rn seems like 6 months is avg
Wait, did you finish the Security Forms (Standard Form 86) through the Candidate Experience Security Portal (CESP) system?
Na I’m even before that I still have to provide resume hours worked and fill basic forms
ah
hold up, let me bring up the chart they sent me on the times
dm'd the employment timeline to you
but at least a year at most
before you get to the first day
Well we are already at CJO stage
So there’s only 6 months left
I applied in December last year
mind you, time frames may vary significantly by candidate. In my case, I applied around august last year, and I am still in the suitability process thing
Did they even do polygraphs for you yet
nah
It takes a while tbh
better keep it in the backburner and apply for other jobs for the time being
Damn ya I guess so. When did you get CJO though
nov-dec
Wtf and they still haven’t moved have they done anything
like i said, this shit takes a while
the contacted my ref
other than that nothing yet
Ya this is doomed I’m still full job searching
same. I have been applying for other jobs for the tb
my rec, if you graduated last dec, just volunteer at a lab like I am or get a partime
Na I’m just receiving my degree this week with a may 2024 grad date
oh nice
Damn I got CJO this week and I’m filling out paperwork idk if I can move that quick would be cool I’m trying to get stuff to them fast on my end . I went a different route by doing in person interviews it sped up my whole process
Btw how much tc are y’all getting I got 88k I was surprised they gave me a higher level then other people I know that got in
Just two interns new grad
1 year 3 months
Ya I was happier with 88k I really wanted to get to 90k ng
D.c is kinda pricy
I mean you can find 500sqft apt for $1800-2000 kind of
Those places look terrible though it’s like living in suburban or rural America
Im 21 and I already live in Midwest in suburbs without any social life I want to move to a city so bad and make some friends go out more
I kinda don’t make enough but 88k should be fine for me to afford going out more im young enough my bills are only apt, insurance, and then just hobbies and whatever I spend going out . Idt savings that big a deal I’ll increase tc quickly I got out of uni 1.5 years early so it’s free money
What avg rent price at those place
D.C is like 1900 for 450 sqft. It’s pricy as heck but the apartments do look nice
Well for me my main want is to live around other young rich ppl and get to hang out after work and go out more preferably in a walkable place I can leave my car behind. I need to make connections and living alone in a apt in the suburbs won’t cut it. Also I’m trying to get into UMD and have the nsa pay for it so I can potentially make some friends there and I’ll get my masters done
So I’m like specifically looking at inner city and what the neighborhoods like, am I going to be able to date ppl easily and go back to my apt, can I hang out with my friends without having to commute in, and I want to be into a lot of hobbies like boxing, kayaking, tennis, and just whatever’s popular if it helps me get a better social life going.
Idk what area I want to live in specifically yet I need to talk to more people my age that are there and see if I can make up my mind
@blissful stratus after looking for a bit this place seemed to match everything i wanted and pricing isn't too bad like $1870/mo. The place is half a mile from the capital park and its super walkable around that area and theres probably a ton to do after work. Sure commute is 30 mins but im hoping I can carpool with someone else that lives around the area, and in our benefits they mention they do some carpooling so there has to be other nsa employees working here i could just ride with and chill each way.
On my post-tax income of $5343/month, rent would be 35% of that which is not bad, bit over the ideal 30% rent but if I scale back in other areas I could even it out. Also im just so young saving money isn't that big a deal over quality of life, ill be ending up with way more savings then I expect anyways. 64120-22440 = 41680 left over, and ill probably only need < 20k to live on the rest of the year even living well so that would leave $21680 into savings
I think these apt come with garage parking it says. Ya commute is going to suck but I’m just going to have to put up with it for 1-2 years till I can transfer to a better company. My life’s so boring out where I live rn in Kansas City, I am waiting for any escape from here into somewhere I’m happier.
I wonder if any of that "Tele-Work" stuff is possible at some point after getting in there
I’m struggling to fill out my forms rn, I got everything done but the work history I worked a dumb retail job in high school I have no way of contacting the supervisor who I barely even remember .
I sent an email to the company asking if they could give me a contact to put down
Well I still have two weeks so that’s fine but I need to sort that out, once it’s through I think I’m mostly safe. I worked an internship in another country and I don’t have any us citizens to put down but I can put down a foreign citizen, idk what to do there I need to email the Hr and ask on Monday
After that though I’m ready to submit I think
What stage are you on again how long have u been waiting after getting clearance documents in
Maybe they’ll move fast for me it is only supposed to take max 5 months from this point
Ya I don’t have exactly foreign relations I have foreign family but I don’t contact them often
Wait what u dont have u.s citizenship put down how u pass screening
or u do, just dont have it with u to send over
what i meant the people at the company are not US citizens and they said they wanted the reference to be a US citizen
Oh
Do you know if there are limits to the nsa tution funding for masters
Your a level below me hmm
That’s wild given you have two YOE
They gave you 7/3 right?
nah it close to 1 yoe
but it more related to IT and nothing related to programming/swe
wym by 7/3
Ya I got grade 7 step 4
Are you starting on your security clearance
I’m submitting mine today
They’ll send it today then
Hope this process goes fast I don’t have much time
Lease expires for me in June and then I’m couch surfing
though even then if u did manage finish it in 2 month, not sure if you start right away
Ya but at least start date would make me feel safer instead of conditional
I can’t make any plans rn without knowing when I start
i see
damn this is a chore
to fill out
also annoyying when save button dont work and save dont work even when i press save
Yep
you need to meet all requirements to save they want
I did though
One of them is just yes or no
If u know anyone out of u.s

I’m done filling everything out but I can’t fking submit it
yeah same
yeah i try calling them
all they say is contact them by email
of the problem
bruhh i contacted my recruter and he gave me another email to email
i just sent it early this morning so ill tell you if i find a soluttion
You have not met the minimum employment history years requirement. This section will not be marked complete until the minimum employment history years requirement is met.
bro how tf am i supposed to meet 10 YEARS of employment history before 18
maybe just put down unemployed lol
YEP
That works
lol
so how my resdience
shit going work
i try putting one under my 18 birth day

nvm
now it work
if i put something before 18 birthday
head put it close to my 18 birthday
Odd for me I had to back till I was 12
Ayo
how far are you guys on your security forms
got mine resubmitted to me to make edits
fking sucks
one week of waiting gone for nothing but at least its all correct now
How long u been waiting since submitting
Do u think they really intend to ever give out these jobs
a few months, but yea they will. I heard they are contacting everyone now who submitted the forms on Nov/dec
They approved my forms now what
hold on, when you say the approved your forms, what do you mean by that? Did you already finish the background investigation , polygraph and psychological testing needed for SF 86?
No they approved the submission I made of the paperwork and moved me to the next step
To clarify, did you get the email from CESP stating "your investigative questionnaire was submitted. Your request will now be reviewed"
and afterwords another separate email stating "your investigative questionnaire was accepted."
Nope
Wait nvm
Yes I did
What’s next then
On 4-29-2024, your investigative questionnaire was approved. Your forms will now be reviewed to determine the next step in your security processing.
yea, then comes the background investigation, followed by the Suitability Processing (Polygraph, Psychological Evaluation, Security Interview (SI), or Language Testing)
shit takes a while though
Ok I see
you can find more info here
Tomorrow I’m having a meeting with them to discuss it
meeting?
Ya it’s a new hire process explanation
They inviting all the new hires to attend and learn how this works
Nope emailed
huh, I didn't see it. The only email I got from NSA recruitment was about a chat on May 8th
Can you send me the event link?
Maybe
mine still hasnt been approved 😦
@muted bison damn u got lucky then
u got approved veryquickly
cause they answer in chat it may take few week
are u in the meeting
yeah
well for suitability part i only heard is that
u suppose to go nsa washington location
to take the polygraph test and will reimburse u for the trip
but they lie about how long it take
time line didnt say 6-12 month
1-5 months is what that reads huh
Idt they know imo
Length of time depends on your background
For someone like me it is short because I’m young anyways
Got approved
The only thing im worried about is that they said yesterday about something is that u might not get fjo if position is filled or something even if u pass backgrounds check?
Ya but that won’t happen for SWE they need them
Fr dood
The only people getting reject like that are the less important roles
They are hiring thousands of SWE
Can’t get enough of them
Oh u got your docs approved?
I wonder how long until the next step now
no idea
same
u been in process since december offer right?
yea
fuckk and tthey still haven pushed u forward or contacted u
Dang well 6 months is just 2 more months away for you
If it’s 6 months I’d feel ok, but 12 is just damn
I heard from a guy that took 1 year
But he failed the poly 3 times
They literally said 6 though so it’s not really an option
yea, at this point, I am leaving it at the backburner while applying for other jobs
so in the worst case, I might have something even if the NSA thing doesn't pan out
I should do that rly just need to be motivated
any luck on your end?
Nope
u think that means on site soon
Prob
My people of reference all live around same area made thing easier
Just have one investigator interview them
