Congrats! How was team matching process for you?
stressful
I only got like 3 matches and the only one that I liked dropped out before I could talk to them. Leveraged my experience to reach out to hiring managers in my technical area on LinkedIn and got the match through that

How exactly does the team match process work? I filled out the team match form recently, do the teams email you or a recruiter does?
recruiter emails you with a list of teams willing to hire you. My understanding is that they put your profile in a chat or something and diff managers look at it

Yes my understanding is that you just go back to team matching

Redmond. Came in wanting MPK or NYC but team was best choice

in my experience no one gives af about your "experience" if you're just a rando messaging them on linkedin

You waited 12 days to get the results of final?
I said that cuz I messaged teams doing exactly what I have experience interning for at a direct competitor and explained my situation, they said my experience was relevant and contacted my recruiter

maybe bad wording, what I meant is that if ur looking to do the same it might help if u have exp in same domain as the team cuz response rates are low in my experience and the only team I got was basically a direct mapping

no. just reach out to a manager myself and they said onboarding time is top 1 thing they consider. like if you can join Feb then every team would hire you, but if you join after June then goodbye not a chance.
I believe many in the process or have offer are may grads, so it’s over for us
mgr said he would consider me with one condition that is no one can join sooner than me. he does not care about my resume or any other thing.
I think it’s will be really tough.
he said for most org, June is the time for perfermance review and new hc would open. So using first half year's hc to hire somebody onboarding on second half year would be a waste.
hope we make it.
maybe we will just have to wait until July to get second round hc but hope we can make it sooner.
that's so ironic considering the fact they're refusing to hire laid off talent pool that would be precisely looking to start asap
if they have time preference then why are they hiring new grads
when there have never been more unemployed industry hires in the entire history of the tech market
instead they are focusing on hiring ng and seniors/leads
it's meta hiring system's problem, in previous years meta holds bootcamp for six months and mgr can only pick ng in certain period, so they don't actually have a choice to find someone early onboarding, now they cancel the bootcamp and so many ppl in the pool, reverse the bargain power.
and btw it isn't just meta that's doing this
seems like most faang/big tech prioritizing in this fashion rn
if this trend continues, take advantage of your position as NG as best you can and land something worthwhile
don't expect to job hop to faang at 1yoe or something - especially not in this market
how many people in the pool are actually willing to do something as drastic as dropping out though? a meta job you could possibly be laid off in a month after is a big risk for that commitment

I'm also stuck in team matching and leave of absence is maybe something I could do as well, so I'm considering also reaching out to managers

she told me to submit my letter saying I was doing leave of absence but done with credits when "the background check team reaches out for more information on your degree" even though I already did it

I heard team matching is valid for 1 year, so no matter what happens I think ur fine

She did set up a call with the manager for me though so that was nice ig

Yes 4/4 but not flawless, hints and mistake on first interview but got there
