insider at amazon said out of the 6k SDE interns from summer 2023, half were 2025 grads and 1000 of them got return internships, and they're planning to hire 4000 external. Still low than the 15k interns that they hired during summer 2022.

meta intern i know said that after the 2022 massacre, there was just 200 interns during the summer 2023, half of whom got return new grads, and a smaller amount who got return internships (pursuing masters for example) + pipeline from Meta U. So they filled around just 100 interns, and are planning to hire 900 more external interns, for 1k total. also still lower than the 3k interns they hired during summer 2022.

that makes sense except theres no way that half of summer 2023 was 2025 grads lol, anecdotally and from zon server it seems more like 2/3 if not 3/4 were 2024 grads

also 1000/3000 return intern getting RO is insanely low considering that incline rate is 70%

incline doesn't imply return offer, only AWS and select amazon orgs gave official return internships, same applies for new grad
