I solved mine with brute force first, but had time so gave optimized solution. The interviewer seemed happy with the brute force solution tho

I second what dayless is saying...I spent 30 minutes of my technical understanding the question and when I said I should code now as I am short on time, the interviewer comforted me by saying that my thought process was clear so coding shouldn't be hard. I reckon brute force should work unless HC is too less atm

They prob only consider final if there was less ppl in the pipeline. Unfortunately, I think they really fucked up with screening ppl into the pipeline and basically just let everyone in.
