More numbers in your projects
tbh i did a lot of shit but ik its too much, just need space filled
gonna add another project and remove 1 or 2 bp
yeah totally agree but at that point ill be finding it hard to fill all the space
true
like tbh might go down the road of just taking tutorial projects and expanding on them
just to fill
kk ty
thats super cool
im trying to decide if i want to go all in on web dev or do other projects
Education is fine, first job is decent but yaps a lot just to achieve surface level things (feels that way from the description, like creating 20 react components or making a rest api is not crazy shit), Ta Position into many lines for a role everyone understands/knows/doesn’t really care about, first project is generic and you’re just explaining that you wrote code in the bullets instead of the difficulty / impact, second project is decent but all you do is talk about multi threading so I don’t know much about it or how a recruiter would think, I don’t think the robotics role is an achievement (like I think it’s kinda weird to make an achievement category just to mention that) / super relevant maybe I’d put it in experience , while it is cool I don’t know how much value it provides, it just seems strange to mention stuff you did as a freshman in highschool, skills are mid and surface level like you have 5 IDEs as dev tools
ty 🙏 i think i agree with most that you said. ill make changes
tbh the only reason i keep robotics on is bc its brought up in my interviews pretty often. also just shows my java and hardware
Like you bring it up or the reviewers bring it up?
If the interviewers bring it up then it’s probably worth keeping
interviewers bring it up
I think it would be sick to try and quantify your impact there too
yeah i mean i feel like the semi-finals line is but just not a number
maybe i can say like out of x teams
What was your final place
Like 3rd fourth?
Out of x teams is good
Cus FRC is huge but not everyone might know
Yeah that would be cracked
I got bullied off my team for not being cracked enough 😢
True NY?
Nah Minnesota
ah true i border ny
btw @craggy sluice , for the first project how or what would I quantify there? I'm having trouble figuring that out b/c all I did was build it, I never deployed it so I dont have any metrics for use
Firstly I would try and deploy it so people can see. I think it is hard to quantify it if it’s something you built and it’s not deployed. The only thing that comes to mind would be finding a metric to optimize your code, but ideally I’d just reduce the project to two bullet points and replace it with better projects down the line
Cus that project, while probably took time and you learned a lot, is pretty common
And I’m not sure how passionate you are bout it which would make it harder to spend more time developing
Yeah it was a while ago when I was first learning web dev. I’m probably just gonna drop it eventually when I make better projects. Currently I’m working on a site to play different coloured noise, and adding a backend for a chat room to make it worth putting on my res. Gonna try to deploy that one
I generated the noise w numpy so I think that’ll be a cool bullet
i wouldn’t call frc robotics an achievement but i had it on my resume and interviewers really liked it
i would rename that section to extracurriculars or organizations tho
Yeah same
wtf i did the same shit 😭
bro don’t make us citizen that big 😭
i have it on mine too but it’s on the second line
where my phone number and shjt are
