#looking for post grad roles, help a girl out pls ðŸ˜

I tend to put intern for everything even if it’s a coop
Just easier for the recruiter
No need to include software developer at the top
Bullet points could use some work, try and follow the xyz format more
More than two million people apply to work for Google each year, which is more than 20 times the number of employees at the company at any given time.
^particularly for your web design and research role
I don’t think you need to specify front-end or full stack with the job title
Wouldn’t put the levels of competency for the skills section, just list them out
tysm and omg forgot the phone number
this is super helpful! will reupload w edits later
No problem, one other minor tweak is to just have Expected and not Expected grad
if that second thing on ur education is hs i’d remove it
more projects would help
imo the first point u have for ur first 2 experiences isn’t too strong, it mostly just says u worked in an agile team
when screening a lot of ppl will only read the first point i’d try to use smth with more impact
smth like ur 2nd bullet point for the first exp
some of ur bullet points also go to a new line without many words and leave a lot of white space, might wanna be more concise to make them one liners or add more detail to fill the space
it feels weird if it’s just one or two words on a new line
tysm !!!
overall i think an extra project or two would help and using more stats with the xyz format
might be hard to fit an extra project tho
I also go to neu :^D, here's some thoughts/questions I had, srry I kinda got carried away
Questions:
- Do you have two resumes one for designer and another for dev roles? In general would be good if not
- Are you going for full stack, frontend, or backend roles ?
- Currently I think the resume reads super frontend focused
- If going for full stack -> add more full-stack projects or expand on backend/fullstack experiences
Formatting/misc
- Can remove Software Developer in line 2
- Can remove High school details too
- Can combine projects + activities into one
Content
- Most recent co-op
- Strongest accomplishment/bullet should be the first.
- Would move pt. 1 to bottom.
- Would be a good idea to talk more in this pt. About what you did in the team, i.e Code reviewed, tested, feedback session etc. tickets in an Agile team of 5 developers responsible for advertising product
- Pt.2 Not super familiar with A/B testing but is this like user testing? User’s actively gave feedback on the website design? Is this more a design/UX thing? I think it’s still hella impressive tho
- Pt.3 could talk a bit more about on what those ui components do? I’m just thinking the bullet doesn’t tell me much
- brainstorming: Built new UI components to do XYZ using React, TypeScript (anything else? Tailwind? Redux etc.) leading to X daily impressions
- Built X feature allowing users to do Y using Z leading to A ; would be a better format if we can get more detail
- Pt.4 Lead -> Led
- Pt.4 what did you do to expand the contentful API integration? I think the bullet’s good overall but im curious if we can add more detail?
- Pt.5 phrasing: Migrated existing tests from Enzyme to (new library here) and implemented new unit tests with React Testing Library.
- Strongest accomplishment/bullet should be the first.
- First co-op
- Same thoughts as above for pt.1
- pt.2 Definitely go into more detail about what you did to develop the improved project creation flow, technologies, impact etc.
- pt.3 Talk more about the features you developed! Once again tech, impact etc.
- Any specific types of testing? Wrote endpoints? Did some sort of processing, MVC, other types of logic/design? I think this would be a good opportunity to talk more about the backend work you did if possible.
- pt.4 Add some more detail (i.e integrated Twilio API (maybe using some other tech if applicable) to add SMS capabilities for X clients, (insert impact here) and tested using X
