#Canadian 2nd Year

Put education at top, skills at bottom
Don’t say “candidate for bachelor of Cs” just put “bachelor of CS”
Remove interests
Instead of “full stack developer” put “software engineer” (you’d be surprised how much this impacts it)
But realistically for a 2nd year you have a great resume, it’s just hard bc most companies want 3rd years
Agree to disagree, I’ve heard from recruiters to order education first for internships because they want to first make sure your grad date aligns with what they’re looking for
Skills is mostly just a checkbox for keywords so it goes at bottom
If it’s just a grad date check then that should go at the bottom
First thing is recruiter will screen ur skills to see if they match against posting
if ur canadian make sure abt the laws with this
Nobody follows the convention
CS ≠ engineering degree
But CS majors get offers titled “software engineer”
Yeah do that
I think it’s just market situation, I don’t really see any huge red flag on your resume
Say that you’re graduating in mid 2025, that’s what internships are looking for
Are they getting swe or analyst jobs?
Yeah man I get it, I have friends who did no LC 2 years ago and make 400k+, nowadays it’s hard to get any job at all even with really strong technical skills
Don’t lose hope, just keep grinding and it’ll all work out
Also network. I can’t stress enough how much networking helps out.
Attend events, meet CS alumni at your school, etc.
“People all around you getting jobs and interviews”, what is the percentage?
I am from Canada btw
1 of my buddies works at HFT, but surprisingly it’s my friends at other companies (LinkedIn and Waymo) that make more than quant
Because if it’s let’s say 20 people around you, 5 are working, and the rest are just getting interviews
Just Take it
Went to Bayview I guess 🤣
"r u exfaang?"
DM me, I’ll give you more insight
For the near term I would suggest just take the offer you have. For the long term, fully digest whatever advices you are learning from people in this chat and you will be well positioned for the future
