capital one rejected me from swe because i dont have professional swe experience
but i have personal experience, coursework, and got a perfect score on their assessment
and i was an intern for a different role within the company
it is a certified bruh moment
Resume reject or after final?
after assessment
i have been emailing with the recruiter and she let me know that "C1 has recently implemented a new selection process for our full-time program and it requires that you have relevant software engineering experience"
Was this for Feb or Aug start?
do you have swe internship experience?
You interned already for C1 and got rejected? So no return offer either? Confused
I interned as a business analyst and got that RO and a data analyst offer
Aug
No
Ohhh, I understand. The same happened to me at Citibank. It be like that. They’ll say you’re a “better” fit for the other non-tech roles and leave the tech roles to other ppl
But this is crazy bc it means you have to have ONE SWE experience under your belt already. FT programs should also consider those without experience, i think it’s fair since it’s entry-level.
But oh well. It’s annoying but it is what it is.
Screams, we aren't willing to train talented people
So I assume you aren’t cs major?
Correct. Im stats major who is also minoring in cs but I swapped my major so didn't have any swe internships
it sucks, but in this market companies are gonna prioritize cs majors
TDP might have had CS major as a requirement or preferred qualification, could be wrong
CODA would be a better fit but I believe it’s closed already :(
