#Canadian looking for summer swe internships, can't get interviews at all

Just write Expected: May 2025
Try to use XYZ when you can in your experience bullet points like your last bullet point in 2nd most recent internship
Project bulletpoints seem too wordy
Try to describe what the project does in less words/emphasize more on the skills you learned/used
Idt you need to say /4.0 since GPA is known to be /4.0
What’s “software construction”? Maybe try to use a more familiar class term
Maybe bold the dates
Why do you have those terms underlined?
I’m guessing the projects are underlined because they have links? Might not be obvious at first imo
Curious why you have Canadian citizen on there?
is it not usually a question like 'are u legally entitled to work in canada' ?
I would take it off
I’d only put it on for those jobs tbh
I was thinking of having it like "3.8 GPA, Dean's Honour List" since i got dean's list every year. do you think that will help? or should i just do "3.8 GPA"
i added links to company website in case they're interested in knowing more about the product. although you're right, it's kinda weird. do you think i should just remove the links completely?
Take this with a grain of salt but I got a quick resume review from a recruiter a few weeks ago and she specifically pointed out that resumes should have boldings on the tech stack and metrics / quantifiable impact
ok i attached the links instead of just underlining the project name (a url in case they print the resume out)
i've read on reddit that some resume reviewers might think that people with non english names (in my case, chinese) aren't authorized to work in the country. but yeah i'm not sure if having it would be a bit extra or not
Hmm I guess it wouldn’t hurt to have it
Tbh I’d say remove because a recruiter won’t have time to click it
Eh I mean if you say in the application you are eligible to work in Canada should be fine
that's at US coz of h1b
Ok I implemented all of the suggestions above ❤️
Bump
Bold expected: too
I feel GPA: 3.8 (Dean’s Honors List) would look better but that’s just my personal preference
Maybe for the last project you can say you achieved 3rd place in a bullet point (and bold it if you prefer) instead of beside the project tech? But both prob work
Otherwise seems much better now
Eh I don’t have anything bolded and I get responses
You da real MVP 🙏 thank you!
After suggestions:
Look good to me 🙏
No problem! Anytime
seems almost good but the first point of your first work exp is generic tho. idk
what kind of client specific challenge?
authenticated CRUD on db by lambda funcs?
I think mileage may vary, some recruiters like bolding in job bullet points, some do not. It's 50/50 but I've been told from HR folks that it's tacky and takes away attention from other important things on the resume
yeah idk what to put atm since it's still a little bit early. basically clients like profs and researchers ask for a software solution and we make it (for example, the invasive plant identification that i'm doing rn), but i haven't gotten to the aws portion of the app yet so that's why i just listed the services i'll use. once i implement the services i'll swap it for a more accurate description. do you think that's okay?
