#Accepted a return offer to Amazon after
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I would take that startup , rn having a decent job is more important than bank . Amazon as an employer has degraded to the lowest levels
if you dont have visa problems u can try to wait, FANNG on resume is a lot nicer than start ups.
Bro i went from making 220k at amazon to now making under 100k in NYC
u r easily replacable, what makes u think ur worth that much lol
but to answer ur question yes ur safe, all pushed back offers that i know of were never resinded and i know several ppl who have joined at their push back date
Where do you work now? @mild summit
Take it bro
Best thing you can do for your career is to work a (decent) job
By decent I mean one where you're coding and developing something, expanding your skills and learning
Get experience
why not just take both then renege?
^ do this
dude ur ego is too high, ur a fresh grad, ur not rly worth that much to be completely honest, the amount of ppl in tech is a pretty small % of swe’s. there’s so many swe’s that went through a cs major and then ended up getting an IT job. be thankful for ur offer and take it. then just dip when amazon takes u back in feb and make sure to remember us poor ppl when ur there
bro chill
Na bruh i’m fr 😂 i was the same way when i got laid off, ik how it feels, i remember i was like im not gonna accept an offer lower than 170k, but then reality hits u, i’m giving pretty honest advice, just take the offer and dip when Zon takes u back
When i was working at amazon in 2022, i had no idea what the reality of cs was, i still thought everyone was getting 6 fig offers easily and only applying to like 50 places
That's not renege that's just quitting
Work for the startup until you're confirmed 100% working for Amazon
Then quit
I thought he had 2 offers having the same start date.
In fact to be extra safe I'd actually take sick day or whatever and actually start working for Amazon
Like a day or two or however long
And then quit the other job
Wait 220k as a new grad k thought it was 200k for sde
But we’re L4 right cause I am also delayed but the tc is 200k in ny or maybe I am doing the math wrong
Are there bonuses
Do u know what org or location u will be in?
Retail
First year was 200k around
Second year the sign on bonus for me was higher and the stocks were higher, its around 220k tc
useless tho cuz i got laid off so now its prolly gonna be take me 15-20 years to even reach 200k
Damn how second year sign on is less for me
We’re in personalization?
Not even when the market get better you will bounce back
I just hope I can last atleast 1-2 before layoffs for experience
What’s the tech stack and things I should learn to prepare I believe I will be in personalization
I am also nyc when r u planning looking for apartments?
Whose ur skip
Or ur manager
Idk I intern in other org before I switched @mild summit
If u have ur job ID someone can check internally
From the amazon.jobs page
I know most of the managers and what the teams work on in personalization so lmk the manager and i can give more info
I had thecco check he said personalization
Ok will do what’s the tech stack tho?
depends on the team
Languages aws services to expect
some teams don’t use aws at all
Lmk ask thecco real quick
i can give u more specifics if u pm me the manager
Ok 👍🏿
They ain’t reaching out to laid off employees tho 🥲
really ?
