#shit resume

maybe it's the way you apply to things
and the projects you do
Are you trying to do Backend?
wdym by this?
also appreciate the help btw
what do you think is missing in your resume?
why do you think you're not getting interviews
essentially what I'm getting at: how do you apply to jobs?
nothing special, j apply thru job postings
maybe i should reachout to recruiters more on LI, and do more cold emails
maybe a big n/faang internship lol, but thats prolly not whats gapping me
yeah think more about it
yeah that's one way for sure
hmm, i was able to get an interview for apple last year for an internal tools team (a masters student got it instead), so maybe my resume isnt being tailored to a specifc role? its j generic
yeah exactly
besides tailoring think about how you can stand out
and also what technologies you are missing
and how you can pick them up and learn
and build bigger and better projects with them
That's essentially what's missing so fix that and also make your resume concise and word things well
and then you should be solid
Where’d you get the distributed fault tolerant key value store project from
I’ve seen a lot of people with that exact same project, just wondering which course it’s from
its j their githubs
k
i have 267 stars on a npm package, u think its worth adding tha?
for sure
100%
imma dm the link, cuz idt its acc that deep
things that other cs majors dont likely have
are worth adding
i.e. have u won any math/ coding comps
repos with large number of forks/stars/users
etc.
Idk if u should go for backend jobs
You don’t rly have any backend work
Any flask django projects?
the ieee one is django
the key value store uses flask
i dont go for them exclusivley, but i would take them over frontend anyday
u think i need more backend projects/ if so u got any suggestions
Def need more backend projects
Ur projects sound too simple
Like CLI and stuff
Def can develop an API
💀 , maybe it looks from the description, but theyre def not imo
fs
yes its a common distributed sys course project lol
Ngl phone from sig is still pretty impressive
j got lucky
I think ur resume rly isn’t an issue
It’s just that it’s tough for Canadian students in US markets unless ur from waterloo
Oh nvm lol
sent a dm
Looks way better imo
I personally wouldn’t link work exp
Try to link ur first project too
its a school proj, and they dont let u make it public 💀
even if its open source work on github?
Wouldn’t that be more project rather than exp
Like I think linking a webpage is find if it’s for ur LinkedIn
But linking work exp is just weird to me
u think it can pass big n/faang?
amazon prob
others prob no
butim more of a pessimist/realist
if anything
anythings possible mate
tru
what do u think is gapping me?
internship prestige
Tuff
ehh I got an offer in FAANG without a top tier internship so don't let that discourage u
