#No callbacks, resume review
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
switch to jakes resume template (more standardized and provides a good way to structure)
use XYZ bullets, basically “accomplished X by doing Y which resulted in Z”
is there a cap to how many bulklet points
Z is a metric you want to include line (70% reduction in bottom line costs or smth like that)
There’s no cap but try to keep it max 5 well-written bullets per exp
Also don’t use nested bullets
okay
You can shorten your bullets
Make them 1-2 lines max each
Ideally each exp’s bullets will take up 4-6 lines total
I’d put down a project or two at least
If ur old projects r bad start working on new ones
Your experience bullet points should explain more about how your skills played a factor in your experiences
But with ur experience you can get away with no projects
so basically follow Jakes, use XYZ, add a project or two, and you should get callbacks
i only have front end projects
There’s people with much much worse experience getting OAs and phones
should i add them
that’s fine
ur cracked lol
but expect frontend roles
recruiters dont think so 😭
nope
yea just follow my points above and you should see ur rate improve
I'd suggest looking at job descriptions and looking at keywords/phrases/skills in the job description and seeing if those words/phrases/skills are in your resume
^
this was my resume earlier from jakes resume but i changed the descriptions
yoo my callback ratio for this term is like 80% lemme fix ur resume lol
wait deadass??
plsss 🙏
pretty bad if ur not at a t3
swear to god lol
dm
bet bet
lol I have 10% of the exp u have and I’m getting 40%ish callback
dang
what do you guys mean by callback
like 40% result in interviews?
Goddamn thats crazy
yea def
yeah they don't need to know its for school
as long as u did it actually
Don’t cap (unless you would be able to answer all questions abt it)
40% from applying to receiving phone / test that’s not automated
oh
I’m just estimating
yeah that’s good
list only 2 projects I’d say
Your exp is good enough that u don’t need it
Well I'm definitely not there
i wouldn’t reapply to all maybe a few
but you could get blacklisted
it’s just better to focus on new places thatre gonna open
I think there is a lot of white space , which means the bullets could be more in-depth and descriptive
Looks much better, I'll send some feedback
- Put education at the top, skills at bottom (its more standardized, and is expected to be in that order for interns/current students)
- Make the bullet for "Institute for Software Integrated Systems" one line. It's just one word over one line, yet it takes up two lines.
- For your computer vision internship, either add more content per bullet or, better yet, combine the bullet.
- Using the saved space from points #1 and #2, add more specific information for your "Chess Engine with AI" project. Be as specific and technical as possible. Use metrics if possible.
- The SchoolHacks bullet is one word over the 1 line limit. Cut it to 1 line.
- Using the saved space from #5, add more content to Playground.
