#Swe new grad

it's not coming out later
Oh really?
palantir recruiters are arrogant
recruiter said they have no plans to release normal swe this year
Fr
That’s crazy
ho lee shit
she said that may change but i don't think she'd reject me if that were the case
damn sadge u kinda played yourself, i'm sorry
Did you say you still wanna be considered for delta
no
i have an ok return offer and i don't really want delta tbh
My friend joined as an swe last year and he quit in 5 months
Apparently some teams are awful to work on
yeesh
no career progress or too boring?
urm neither
i heard delta was basically consulting so i didn't really want that shit'
💀
I hope it’s more software focused than regular tech consulting
But idk
delta is also just technical consultant i heard
like they try to say it isn't but it is
i asked some meh questions during the interview and recruiter was basically like "depends on team"
Yeah forward deployed software engineer ☠️ basically glorified consultant
sadge where's ur return from?
small yc company
im proud of u
thanks ❤️
Gj sadge
Team dependent
some deltas are basically swes and exclusively write code
Some are basically consultants and do mostly client interaction
forward deployed delta is basically a beta swe
Oh i didn’t know deltas have teams
You can choose based on what you want as long as your team can support it
I thought they just move from project to project
Usually only on the timeline of like a year at a time
Oh cool
Also it’s 200k for new grads with free food lol
Even for fdse?
Same interview process, same comp package
Have you interviewed for fdse? What was your onsite and hm round like?
I am an fdse at palantir right now, started about a month ago
the company does a really bad job at explaining what this role actually does lol
I write more interesting code now than I ever did at other big tech
thats awesome
On-site is just a sys design and a learning interview which is kinda weird
how many spots u think there are for ft delta?
Should be in the low hundreds by my best guess
But that’s a total ballpark estimate
no i'm hearing that ballpark from a few
how many spots u guys think are left? maybe 150 or so
I gave the onsite last year and my sys design interview was weird, interviewer spent the whole time asking me to go in depth on the databases and we didn’t have time to cover the whole architecture
It’s not a normal sys design interview
Yeah bc a lot of palantir products are database adjacent
So they value your ability to design and understand databases a lot
More than typical dsa in my experience
Standard sys design but they might care more about database details
They did sm hiring last two years but i also know a lot of people left
Depends a lot on interviewer
So i have no idea how much they’re trying to hire this year
Okay cool ty
Was your hm leetcode or another sys design?
Oh fr I’m hearing hm asks lc hard
Seems like people have very different experiences
Hm is a total toss up
My understanding is the hm will look at all your interviews up to that point and pick something they want to see
lc hard god damn
So like if your a cracked dsa and but fumble the sys design they will probably give you one more chance at sys design
for deltas the hm round is usually the time where they try to figure out if you are actually a good specific fit for delta or swe, then palantir as a whole
It’s the kool aid round lol
I see
too bad they're not hiring devs? 😦
Did you use any resources to prep for your sys design
No this was my first sys design
Those resources also don’t help too much
For new grad sys design they care very little about the actual techniques and technicals of sys design
And they care very much about how good you are at understanding the problem and asking enough questions
And databases apparently
Ok cool thanks for the tips
I still think they might start
Late 2023 or early 2024
also how's the food at the office
i hope so man
I’ve heard the food is amazing lol
Apparently not as good as meta
fb food so good
Hmm idk if its different for new grad but for internship decomp, I just did java oop and got good feedback. Do they actually expect a full system?
Wdym java oop?
Also I think I fucked up too. Emailed my recruiter from last asking if/when the new grad regular swe roles were opening. They emailed back saying that they weren't planning to open them then I was rejected the next day w/ no OA, despite making HM round in the past and being encouraged to reapply in the future.
Designing classes, methods and variables
As if I was just making a desktop java program
The recruiters are definitely being weird this year, I got to HM last year too and this year all the recruiters I was in contact with ghosted me. I ended up getting a reply from the person who just coordinated my karat interview
Oh interesting, was it swe or fdse?
FDSE
That's good though, yeah I think just mentioning you prefer normal SWE is instant reject lol
☠️
Recruiters job are apparently super stressful
is ur recruiter CP?
@fiery flint I have received Palantir recruiter phone screen. Any advice for that round?
It’s a behavioral
Just don’t be weird
okay, thanks!
