im not going to lie. it'd be better to just delete this resume and start over.
nothing on you, resume writing is hard to get into
@quaint pine @sonic tendon idk how it'll benefit me to start from scratch. i already did it once. i'm kind of stuck in the "resume hell".
here's a slightly improved version, what do you think?
it's really bad
there's just way too much on it
and 0 projects
no one wants to read allat
also u have like no numbers almost
i rly recommend just trashing this resume
and looking at some good ones
and basing it off that
look up google xyz formula
the bullet points are related to projects...
i can delete some bullet points and make my resume project-focused
yes
wtf?
i would also get rid of the introduction
I think he means personal projects not work projects
i have like 3 personal projects
- Reddit clone
- Real-time gif sharing platform
- Instagram clone
made them during college
U don’t have to include a date for the project. Just be sure to talk about them comfortably in interviews if asked.
I I think u have a good amt of experience. U need to maybe cut some of the content and highlight the most impactful points.
did u happen to go caltech/work w/ anyone at caltech
And for the amt of exp, u are okay with 2 projects listed on resume
im just curious bcz ur experience sounds similar to someone ik
- personal info
- experience
- 2 projects
- skills
- education
that's the layout?
no
Skills could be above projects since ur FT now but sure that’s not a big deal.
i think google xyz is a good starting point
I agree. Most of them are like creating a survey that hides questions etc etc… I mean not really needed imo. You can cut those,
Google XYZ is great, use that to create impact
i can list how much files in parallel and how much it saved time compared to uploading one by one.
Reduced file upload times by [y] by doing trasncribing [n] larege mdia files in parallel using blah blah blah
smth like that would be much better
great, thanks. i'll do that
you dont need numbers for every bullet point
just show case what your MAJOR points were for your time at a certain company
if you have metrics show them
not every bullet point needs some metric thats most likely going to come out of your ass
also your points for your top most exp is too long
like they are all extremely wordy and hard to follow
also you don't need a summary. you arent transitioning from one degree to another or have 0 exp.
@gaunt canyon yeah i'm editing my resume right now. so far i've removed the summary. removed 5 bullet points. and currently im improving my bulletpoints to show impact (not all of them).
i have a question if you can answer, do you think its important to show that you've created CI/CD pipeline to automated deployment/testing?
i'm asking because i also deleted CI/CD point from my resume
ok, just 1 line
as many as you need to, just dont make it over complicated to read if that makes sense
and i'm filling that new empty space with 2 personal projects and a Open Source Contributions section, what do you think?
there are 2 PRs for a single project.
- is fixing bug
- adding some tests
i dont think that can be added then
how big was the bug?
- around 100 lines change. (mostly refactoring)
- around 600 lines change
was the change a major help?
bug fix was the major help. i mean the dashboard thingy wasn't working properly.
the tests were just "busy work"
but i feel its not that significant to include in my resume
i dont think so either
