#shit resume or I’m unlucky

not bad, just average resume
sadge
If you want to stand out, I'd incorporate more cloud techs
like aws?
yeah there so much more
think about each project like it's a startup
and build for scale
what were some of your projects, when you needed projects?
hmmm I don't really have too many projects now
but I had a really fleshed out full stack project
forum, chat features, etc
so it can't just be some mvp?
nobody is probably gonna check out the projects u got there so u don't have to fully implement it
like I'm not telling u to get charged for heavy aws use haha
there's a free tier
yeah there's just so much more than aws / docker
like kubernetes / ecs/ eks
docker swarm
is rest api's too generic these days?
etc
should i do gprc or graphql stuff?
if u got UI, then maybe think about graphql
everyone and their mom use rest api's
true true
I'd learn all of it tho
and try to implement each in a project
I think projects are more so for showcasing your learning and knowledge
than like being a complete expert on each tech
three projects, three different protocols
yeah that's similar to what I did
did you use any AI?
nah I found focus on my resume
so I wanted to become a backend engineer
so just focused on that
rather than trying to be an expert at everything
backend engineer implies knowing databases, authentication, protocols, etc.?
yesss
i like backend a lot more than frontend
all of that
ain't a art major
def not haha
to each their own
take a look at this
and try to incorporate as many of the techs as possible
yeee
felt like talking to a mentor
hahaha I was in ur spot a couple years ago
im just worried because im graduating soon
job market sucks
resume don't work
so cramming for last summer
I'd try to study what makes a good resume
and try to figure how to make yours amazing
i read through everyone else's posted resumes
but they already got so much cracked experience
I think more importantly outside of companies
- pay attention to how they describe things
- how concise everything is
- what technologies they use / highlight
ic ic
i guess i also need to tailor my resume towards specific roles now
probably backend
/fullstack
yeah for backend
I'd have a full stack resume
you can have a bit of ML since some backend teams do a bit of ML
Do companies care alot about technologies used? I feel like the fullstack sandwich only got so much variety
some JS framework, some database, plus Node or Go for backend
definitely
there's so many cloud technologies
I'd try to use as much of the aws ecosystem as possible
also if you're lazy you can make it a local deployment using docker or something
or just host with EC2
would candidates also stand out from using the new techologies and stuff? Example: Svelte, vector DB's, WASM
since your resume is general
no
but if you tailor your resume for each company and that company uses it then yes
EC2? the amazon elastic company?
AWS EC2
ohh
yeah the sandwich is small but there's so many additions to it
for example angular / react / vue is front end
but you can also have redux for statement management, rxjs and some type of async processing
etc
when do summer 2024 internship hiring typically end?
i feel like im pressed for time too
im interning
then coming home leetcoding
then i guess project on weekends now
how long do project building typically take?
depends how good u are lol
I mean you can build something up in a weekend
if you treat it like a hackathon
and add a few more weekends to make it startup ready
basic MVP in one weekend
lol no
go sleep
find shortcuts on building things
maybe there's some template out there already done
just use it
ye prob gonna use some css framework as well
yeah there's plenty
css harder than JS
I mean you don't have to link it on your resume
so doesn't need to be super pretty
UI / UX is a whole other world
so many principles / rules
but all in all
aws is the shit
i guess
i used to hear "if you know JS, you won't go hungry"
guess need aws too
depends on what u wanna do
if you do frontend
maybe you'll be fine
but typescript is also super popular now
material UI
imma head to the gym now peace out
dm me if u have any more questions
ye i heard typescript goes really well with angular, but i only use react
