take out the experience and make 3 more full stack projects
actually?
zero experience on my resume ?
ok take out the last one then, it's irrelevant
where are you applying
Hi fellow Ontarian. Please keep your experience, it looks good!
I'm assuming you want to land internships - here's what I would do to improve your resume:
- Reorder resume -> 0. Summary, 1. Education, 2. Skills, 3. Experience, 4. Projects.
- Update "Data structures and Algorithms" to "Data Structures and Algorithms".
- Update "Honours Computer Science and Economics (Honours Bachelor of Arts) to "Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Computer Science and Economics". No need to include Honours twice.
- Update 2020 - 2025 Expected to "Month 2020 - Month 2025 (Expected)" to be identical to your experience section, where you also include months with dates.
- Add periods to the end of every single sentence for consistency.
- (Optional) Remove either your last project "URL Shortener", OR some bullets from other projects, OR the "Paradigms/Processes" line from your Technical Skills section and add a Summary section that let's recruiters know exactly what you're looking for. Only needs to be 2-3 sentences. Some people will recommend against this but personally I find it very helpful!
Also feel free to DM me if you want a new connection. I'm graduating from an Ontario university with an MSc. soon and have landed internships/co-ops and etc.
boy if i see u add a summary to ur resume iโm blocking you
thank you for the advice, I think I will leave out the Summary section, as majority of people reccomend not to .
like any and all swe sde intern roles in ontario canada
I used a 2-column resume with a summary section to land an 8-month remote internship. Results may vary, though.
experiences are outdated
true, but i dont have more recent relevant experience
welp, adding more projects will genuinely net you less than compared to taking leadership experiences of some sort.
it's clear you at least know how to code, but you don't have any experiences that showcase collaboration or working in a team setting from any capacity. pursue extracurricular leadership of some sort even if it's non-technical.
I see your point. I do have some team experience with my production coordinator position, but I guess its not like being part of a scrum team and it is outdated. thank you for the advice!
if im putting one of my experiences as a software developer at my own company, how do i do it without people not confusing it for a full time position. im confused on what the title should be
cuz it would be weird if i was an intern at my own company
You can put Founder
i wanna put a dev position for scanning purposes
what exactly is your role in deltahacks
im not part of the team, just attended
did u win anything
damn lmao
i donโt think i would include just that in the resume as thereโs no project/no award
ah okay
but it would be something to briefly (maybe) mention if you had a leadership role
why do you think Founder gets filtered out by ATS :o? annecodtal but i got a lot of employers curious about my startup back then when i was interviewing - so I dont see it as a bad thing?
Founder, Software Engineer is the best way to go imo
Hit the ATS + show you founded it
ive heard employers rn screen for atleast 1 or 2 software dev positions
that sounds good, thank you!
U could also just say
Expected: 2025
Recruiters dont rlly care when u started, more when u graduate
Also Im happy to see Deltahacks

Im one of the organizers
ah okay thank you!
oh what LMAO i will be there this year aswell
rig it for me ๐
i think it might actually lol
better off to put it as a swe internship even tho that's hella cap
u will be asked about it but if u literally founded a company u should know everythin inside out
this is comin from somoene who put founder on their resume for a bit
yeah i was asked s ys deisgn quesitons abt it ๐
sys design is wild but so necessary
esp at a smaller company lmfao
it was goddaddy
for NG
coool interview though
maybe its the market now
i had some recruiters tell me that they specifically look for previous internships
however it's purely anectdotal idk what recruiters look at
so i should call myself an intern specifically ๐
and when asked ab it
i will say some people in cscareers told me to
pmuch lol
got it ๐๐พ๐
Theoretically, how would they know that you made the company
Yup
my linkedin :o
They donโt have that much time
Sorry I'm at work all day can you tag me later tonight?
Will do
u didnt land wing
?
u interned at ur own company?
no, had it on my resume to land something
did that actually work?
Yea
oh sht nice
big brain strat
i wonder if u can name ur company like Google.ai or some sht LOL
LMAO i wouldnt take it that far id be scared ti
To
Once i have more experience ill take it off ๐ญ
met u at hack the north, we were in the same room lel
your resume looks solid but i think having 5 bullets is overkill for projects unless it was super impressive, if you can reduce bullet points and add more projects either with different stacks or similar stack depending on what roles ur looking at
you right, some of the project bullet points r kinda useless anyways, thank yoU!
