Got an 843 on a GCA so I think getting to an OA is the biggest hurdle for me… Any help is appreciated!

Noted

#

I guess I didn't apply to enough places in September 😔

halcyon frost
#

fr thats probably the only thing in your case

fast oyster
#

Haha no, I'm honestly quite mediocre

#

My résumé isn't even close to some people I knew in high school (e.g. USACO platinums and an IMO gold medalist)

what positions did you apply? sde? mle? cloud?

fast oyster
#

Honestly I've just been going for everything

#

Since I can't really be picky

Instead of Computer Sciences, Mathematics, you should be writing Bachelor of Science, Computer Science

fast oyster
#

Bachelor of Science is in the first line

#

Also is majoring in mathematics not helpful for internships?

gray shadow
#

Not really

fast oyster
#

I see

gray shadow
#

Also are your titles capitalized

#

I switched out from a math program to a cs one

#

Callbacks are way higher

#

But that could’ve been for other reasons , math is a good signal

fast oyster
#

Yeah, I included my double major because I thought it'd help me out

gray shadow
#

I think ur resume formatting is weird tbh

#

Like that could be the only explanation

#

Other than the current economy

#

For why u aren’t getting call backs

gray shadow
fast oyster
#

Titles are capitalized

#

Just not in this version

#

But I guess the brackets can be removed

gray shadow
#

Did you use your school email

fast oyster
#

I just wanted to express a "subset" relationship that way

fast oyster
gray shadow
#

Use your personal one instead

fast oyster
#

Alright

gray shadow
#

Sometimes things don’t pass through the spam filter

#

Also u could try going to a career fair or asking a recruiter to review ur resume

fast oyster
gray shadow
#

And also the technology you use in your resume

fast oyster
#

They're there though?

#

Below the titles

#

And also in the skills section

gray shadow
#

Things like PyTorch pandas matplotlib are related to ml positions

#

Are more competitive

fast oyster
#

Right

gray shadow
#

If u tailored ur resume to Frontend or backend (picking one) maybe that could help

#

But u are definitely the type

#

Who would enjoy data science / MLE stuff instead

fast oyster
#

Admittedly I haven't done much frontend or backend

gray shadow
#

So maybe remove the other stuff and focus on data science things

#

And apply to mostly ds positions

fast oyster
#

I'll need a few more DS projects then 😅

gray shadow
#

Like for me personally my resume is tailored to frontend stuff and I was able to get a frontend position this summer / callbacks

#

But Ik people who have general resumes who were able to land other things too , better things

#

So it’s RNG at the end of the day

#

If you use outlook or gmail , it should be fine

fast oyster
#

I self-host

gray shadow
#

Also My advice is not good

fast oyster
#

School uses Outlook

gray shadow
#

Cuz I am no where as smart as u

fast oyster
#

I see

gray shadow
#

Alright good luck

fast oyster
#

Thank you!

# fast oyster Yeah

o ye i have to use my school email sometimes and a lot of interview invites literally go to spam

#

literally try to use your personal email as much as possible the school filters are really bad
