#Freshman, looking for internships
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
how am i gonna lie about my expected grad?
how come?
well yeah… i’m just a second semester freshman. I don’t think they’d expect such advanced at this point but I get it
This, grind as many projects as you can as a freshman. They don’t even have to end up completed for you to put on your resume. Just as long as you’ve done enough “meaty” work on them recruiters will only care about what you learned
Also remove relevant courses until you get more of them.
Join computing centric clubs on campus and list them as well
you should take his advice and learn more
and code more
no offence but with Java as your only known language and no other technical skill besides the microsoft suite
nobody's going to hire you over any older student who knows more
@sudden swallow changed it up
Yeah im going to either python or learning front end next
yeah no of course, I just put it there to use space
and additionally keywords as Ive seen a bunch of postings with those words in them
yeah I'm just agreeing with @sudden swallow about learning more
like im a 2nd sem freshman too
i think he might be also
agreeing* oops
Im personally learning data structures myself this summer, so thats a plus
if you dont mind, could i see yours to compare? @wise basalt
like if anything it's the opposite sorta
if ur a 2nd sem freshman
it's not gonna be a lower bar or smth
ye sure lemme just make it anonymous
my resume isnt good btw
ill prob go do a webscraping project with python to add
mine looks smth like this;
it's pretty shit
but the gist is lots of freshman have experiences / projects / know more dev things so i think you should focus on just improving ur competencies as a dev before applying
grind projects
and stuff
Lmao sorry for replying to this randomly but were you able to find an internship as a freshman w this?
No
But that’s not just my resume fault
I was too selective with how I applied
And applied late
what would you have done diff?
Applied more and earlier
if you dont mind me asking, where did you search for your internships when you broadened your search?
Just apply using google
Intern postings
Jobs are everywhere around u lol
