Hi guys, just graduated with a cs degree. now trying to really get a job hopefully before 2023 ends. I've applied to around 100 jobs from Aug - Nov with pretty much all rejections and some random OAs here and there but no success. I have no previous internship experience and all the projects I have aren't the best.
I know 100 is not a lot of apps at all, but I was wondering if my resume is really bad to the point where I should stop applying. Not trying to get into MAANG or anything like that, a government job would make me happy or anything along those lines.

Try to get some work experience too: for example committing to open source, you can put yourself as an open source developer
or creating a startup, you can put yourself as a startup founder
volunteer at some local org and you can become a web developer
many ways to create working experience
I would try to remove the barista and waiter positions since they aren't relevant
and try to use around 5 bullet points per project
not sure if I agree 100% but u can probably add more info on the projects...?
and experience
but would definitely try to get some more experience
and apply to more apps
startups r generally more forgiving of experience if u can show knowledge/ability to learn quickly
would look to remove non-relevant experience if u can....
or maybe combine projects & experienc together
I usually wouldn't give that advice to someone with work experience but since there's no work experience, you'd need to make up for it with more information in the projects
I seee
also you're missing a lot of experience for backend / full stack roles
click whichever role you're interested in
for example you could learn a lot more cloud technologies for backend roles
appreciate the advice, will definitely look into all of those things
for the roadmaps, it would be smart to go through the backend roadmap as an example and just follow it?
Yeah if that’s what you want to do
And you don’t need to learn everything from it but just use what’s most commonly used
For ex use both nonsql and sql dbs
And use a cache etc
poop poop
uhhh i'd lean away towards this, imo a worthwhile startup tends to require serious work (its not "just" a side proj). this isn't creating a club in HS for college apps then dumping it...
I'd disagree, it doesn't matter how developed the startup is. Technically anything is a startup, even if it's an idea. Yes technically it can be like creating a club in HS for college apps and then dumping it since most startups fail. This is for the OP to get the foot in the door.
I used to do this when I was in college but it helped land a lot of conversations with companies, I think it's an option to do
i can't see justifying startup-energy for a job application, but yes there's a blurry line between those and "strict" side projects. just don't want OP to blindly initiate something
