#Junior applying for summer 2023 internships, 150+ apps and 3 interviews

tbh I can’t see any bugs in ur resume
Probably better than mine in terms of actual content
If u’re not getting enough interviews, I would try to go on LinkedIn and connecting with uni recruiters and alumni
I’ve found that this gets me better response rates
Than just applying
Cold messaging definitely works
Hmmm but I’d drop the extracurriculars
They don’t really tell me anything
And some of the % like increased developer productivity by 50% sound a little sus
Like how was it measured?
Haha yeah that developer productivity one is a bit iffy, it was measured by the amount I managed to tag through queries so that other members didn't have to manually
Hmmm, what do you usually open with? I was worried that recruiters would have too many people doing the same thing so I wouldn't be able to stand out
And do you use Linkedin premium to send the messages to recruiters you're not connected to?
Hmm true but also sending I think is better than not and recruiters do this all the time
I generally write the position I’m interested and why I’m qualified
And then attach my resume
I did that for a month where it was free
But I don’t think paying $30 is worth it
Also helps if u have connections with ppl they have connections to
This is where u try to leverage alumni and friends
Like I would cold connect with school alumni
And then ask for referral if relevant (make sure to keep ur message short and sweet with the relevant info)
And then also look for recruiters at the company I applied for to connect with
I’d cold connect with multiple
And then ask
It’s tedious but I think gets better response rates…..
At least for entry level positions
Wow, thank you for all the info! I'll be sure to incorporate a lot of this advice going forward!
