#What's your process been?

y u confused?
From what I can tell it’s phone -> virtual on-site -> HR round -> Engineering manager round
how long after phone did u hear back?
I had coffee chat (15 minute non-technical convo) -> in person interview (yesterday) -> another in person interview (today)
so not sure how the in person interviews translate into the process
Heard back about in person interview 4 days after my phone/coffee chat
What was the coffee chat like and were the two in person interviews technical?
thru email or phone call?
Coffee chat was 15 min convo with a developer, he asked ab my projects, in person interviews were technical
Was each in person interview an hour long?
Both are
Have my second one at 3
Had two leetcode style questions asked in the last one
Tagged?
Also, you got final invitation before the second in person??
I can see why you'd be confused
Nah
I asked my in person interviewer if the interview counted as a phone round and then after if I'd have to do a virtual on-site and she told me the in person counted as on-site 1
Ah gotcha
So I think that my process might just be coffee chat -> 2 in person interviews -> potential offer
So basically it's the final split up over two days instead of all together in VO
Think so
So if you pass the 2nd round it'll probably be the standard HR -> EM process
Thanks for the info btw, got my coffee chat tomorrow lol
Eh, no lol
Same, thought the EM round would be difficult since I've heard of people getting system design
HR is just behavioral
Wack, never done a sys design interview before
This is my first time interviewing in person too
Lol same, but I'd expect high level OOD instead of low level sys design
Did you have to fly out to on site?
They flew people out to my uni
so a few people here have been doing in person interviews
Ah gotcha, makes sense
Which university?
UMich
wait
I had similar process
coffee -> in person -> in person
I assumed there's still a final round after this
but yea I'm not positive
Interesting, how long ago did you have your 2nd in person?
yesterday
Did you have HR call after?
no...wbu?
Nah I'm just starting the process, doing coffee chat tomorrow
rip got rejected
Did they tell you in person or how long after did you get email
I got email just now
Oh wait one day mb
Did your interviewer also interrupt you every 5 seconds?
Cause holy shit mine would not let me think or go through my solution at all
Rip
If you don't get HR call like 30 mins after final interview it's a reject
You still got some hopium
Genuinely most disrespectful interviewer I’ve ever had
Were you able to solve the problems tho?
I think so?
Did you run code? How does in person work?
Coding on whiteboard
Bruh
I’d think aloud and I’d go smth like “here’s a brute force way to approach it but I think…” then he would interrupt me to make me spend like 25 minutes on a solution I would be expressing as a dead end
And he’d make me give EVERY detail of these
Like bruh pls I just want to implement my actual solution
That's tough
Usually why I never mention brute force at the beginning unless I'm genuinely stuck
I like to mention it as a just in case and to show how I’m thinking
Since usually interviewers seem to like that
I briefly mention it at the end during complexity analysis to show benefits of optimal solution
Smart
But yea, guy would very poorly explain stuff to me then get mad at me for not understanding what he meant
I’d like try to rephrase what he said to make sure I understood and he wouldn’t repeat himself
Then just tell me to solve it
That's crazy
damn that sucks
