#New grad IS easier

U don’t have system design
New grads dont have system design + it's just inevitable man
New grads they need to hire a ton = lower hiring bar
you get less interns per company vs new grads. You have less of a reason to spend money hiring an intern as opposed to a new grad
for quant firms though?
same stuff for quants
my friend worked on a team with 10 interns
Their intern sizes are TINY
Idk my Cit cycle was HARD
but it wasn't impossible I still cracked it
final wasn't that rough it's just RNG
naw I wasn't
just cold applied through their portal
He’s at G
turned down citadel for google?
I don’t think G acknowledged the signing bonus
wait G = google right
Yes
i thought big tech doesn't negotiate
wdym
They always do
for internship offers?
there's exceptions like meta for new grad but usually they nego
we're talking new grad my g
ohh
you're in the new grad channel remember lmao
i see
Lotta reasons why I chose G but it ultimately came down to 3 things
- Career trajectory
- Internal mobility
- WLB
All three were just better at G
Yea google is nice cuz you guys have SRE
Every other tech company u have oncall outside work lol
Except others like meta
i was meta last summer
I think we still get oncalls depending on the teams but its a lot less
they definitely have on call at least on my team
Yea just daytime oncall
rockstar return offer at Meta is nice though
did you get it?
oh maybe sutrue
im still going for internships lol
SRE have nighttime
jsut seeing my path for new grad next year
had a firend who worked at optiver
his manager made 5mil bonus
would you have gone to another firm like optiver
wlb there sucks too
i imagine you would take jane street tho
but optiver or like two sigma
Quants are not my thing
I'm most likely avoiding it my entire career
WLB is one thing, but culture is a bit worse in quant on a more general level too
TC evens at the top levels
and there's a much higher chance of building connections that can lead you startups that have successful exits
