#process Palantir reject after hiring
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
fuccckkkk man im sorry
what is the hiring manager round usually? is it just a vibe check or is there leetcode/sys design
shit
so is it Karat -> final -> hiring manager -> offer?
and do you get a chance to interview with different hiring managers in the company
Final? Like on site?
Mines was
Recruiter call -> Karat -> on-site (2 interviews) -> hm round -> offer (in my case rejection)
If you are fine with sharing, can you please comment a little about on-site interviews
decomp + learning
So decomp is just simplified system design
Learning they teach you a new concept and u just implement that new concept
Did toy take the oa or just go straight to karat
i didnt lol

gonna have my onsite in like 2 weeks, wish they would condense the process a bit lol
did u have to answer all 3qs in karat?
Hijacking this, what’s on-site like? harder than karat, tagged q’s or no? @shell bobcat
no LC on-site
What is it exactly?
Decomp and learning
Decomp is like a junior sys design
Learning is like a applied LC
U learn a new concept and u apply that concept
Ahh I see, yeah heard of those, gonna have to brush up on sys design then
Yep! I recommend reading grokking the sys design as well as doing mocks on pramp
could you give an example of the type of question it is?
is it like full on normal system design
or different, because I've seen people talking about it being more "decomp" focused where they just give a broad problem, you break it down, etc. but don't need to go into full on system design (load balancing, cache, database sharding, etc.)
applied LC as in using LC patterns?
can skip load balacning
but i talked about caching and db sharding
as well as cap theorem
its how u want to structure the interview
how tf did u get reject
just not sure how to prepare in all honesty
as in its a programming question and u use the new concept to answer it
i've got it on friday
idk
other than working through this sys design book, what else should i do?
maybe cuz im asian
honestly seems like you're more than prepped
wym 🧐
i think they are probably pretty stringent on the culturey koolaid drinking stuff

lets connect, I'd love to hear how it goes
shit ton of mocks
pramp ftw
i have tonight and tomorrow to do them lmao
fr though?
this is what i'm not sure on
do some pramp sys design
is how much hardcore sys design knowledge i should be learning
sad fax
its like baby sys design
exactly
like u dont need to worry too much about scaling
yeah Ive heard its jr sys design
i scheduled a pramp interview but cancelled it
because i saw my question was about some key store thing
and thought, well if I get given this surely that's not even the kinda thing they're asking?
could you give an example of what they'd ask?
kinda signed an nda
from this book i've just seen system design is questions like "Design a URL shortener"
ye doesn't have to be what you got given, just an idea of the kind of scope maybe?
don't want to sound pushy and if you don't want to say anything no worries at all
my nerves making me desperate lol
caching, db sharding, cap theorem
its just like tools for palantir
not the palantir product
but for their community
hey so I did the onsite and got through!
one thing I've read from you & others is about people getting rejected at the HM level
Let’s goooo!
from what I understand, the HM basically either does a behavioural (if you did well all-round in prev. interviews) or it 're-does' one of the things you didn't do as well in before (e.g. decomp, or coding)
is this true?
❤️
i've got a recruiter call on monday to hopefully find out if it's a behavioural or technical etc.
What did you have?
u have to ace it to only do behav
the redo isnt based on what u didnt do well before, more so up to the hm
👍 thanks. Any tips as to what to do? I've read too many stories of ppl being rejected at this stage, quite scary
after ur onsite, could u give some info abt if i need to cover grokking system like lb, caching, sharding, cdns, etc, or is it other concepts
I've done the onsite
Knowing those topics could be useful but they're not really testing your knowledge but more just how you break down problems
Not really Dropbox tbh
It's either a small system or its a "Solve X problem"
It’s more like they present a problem and information you could use to solve it and it’s up to you to scope and break it down to get a MVP, @spiral ruin can confirm
E.g "You are given data of cab rides. Improve the quality of life of cab drivers"
Yep
And the MVP is important
They don't want a perfect solution, it doesn't exist, they want you to get to a solution though
did you get to pick any language for the learning bit?
oh ok I see, thanks for the insight torin and workday
Yes, out of these:
Java, python, TS
You can write pseudo code though
I chose java as it's way easier to understand object oriented code vs. python which has quite weird OOP
Good choice
sweet, appreciate it 🤝
Great taste in cars lol
thanks i try lmao
hi, u saying it i usefull, but did u use it? tia!
