hey man i think we've all been there

i don't really advocate for cheating in classes, and i get why you're feeling this way but you're not really alone tbh

like sure stuff like USACO would've built problem solving skills and whatnot, but most people who end up working at top tech companies and end up having successful careers didn't do that stuff during high school, and if they did, it's not like they got too far ahead either

i read the advice others said and like yeah, if you grind leetcode and build projects from now and apply early, i think your goal is very much possible

as for problem solving skills, sure you can go the route of spending years doing CP problems or math proofs. personally i think the best way to increase it quickly is to not do problems but look at the solutions to many many problems

i was in this position for my advanced calculus class last semester. i essentially cheated my way through high school in calculus and discrete math, and so i came in not understanding anything. but i was able to learn things really quickly by doing some problems and looking at many different proofs and calculus problems, to a point where, sure it was hard, but i pulled the highest grade in that class, and abstract math as a whole has become a whole lot easier.

i think the same principle applies to programming too.
