My wlb is bad and im on a critical internal tool. So here is the thing about generalizing wlb in product vs internal facing teams.

Product moves faster and a lot of flux, everyone seeks low hanging fruit too and there’s plenty of it, not much technical challenge. I would imagine the pace can overwhelm people.

But internal has oncalls (this can be stressful), more attention to quality, more technical work. So even this on its own is challenging. But if u add in any sort of factor that makes wlb worse such as quick pace and deadlines (which can happen cuz internal tooling is still critical and has customers, they are just devs), now u have fast pace PLUS the aforementioned challenges

So generalizing is ok but at end of day wlb is a product of many other things and not just the problem space

And wlb can change too, economy is rough and teams lose people and before u know it ur grinding
