But diversity is a real issue with real attempts at solving it. I could go more into it, but that's how systemic stuff will get addressed anytime. You throw bandaids while meaningful solutions come together lol

This is also difficult to answer. The law in america is pretty clear that demographic info is anonymized on an individual level. When you apply, no HM or HR person will see "ok you are certain race/orientation."

However, nobody can stop a recruiter from

• finding you at a diversity fair
• seeing your face and last name on LinkedIN

So the fact is this is not a falsifiable claim.

At the end of the day all we can see is results, and tech is still heavy handed in hiring certain gender/race. This is what's happening on the ground.

And maybe they never will be lol. I am personally not optimistic. I've just accepted the diversity game is a lot of PR and bandaids but I'm not gonna get pressed about it. Just take your W's, grind, and move on.

Untapped is truly one of those exceptional cases/means for this. All I can say is personal data points for friends and myself, none of us got opportunities thru it. We got way more thru diversity fairs.

(I don't think untapped should be allowed to do this btw)

The incentives exist on a company level and they are PR incentives. The company is not making more or less $ for hiring more/less of certain demographic.

In a sense they do, in other ways they don't. We attend fairs or events and that means you're in a narrow funnel where your odds go up. But it also requires awareness of these opportunities and coming prepared with a good resume anyway. Not to mention other people who are not in that demographic sometimes being there and stealing opportunities. But you can't really accuse them because for all you know, they are that demo

I can only tell you my experiences and at my average school, most minorities didn't know the fairs existed or couldn't afford tickets or worked 2 jobs and didn't have the time.
