the important thing was i eventually got exactly what my interviewer wanted me to get, it was a LC where i was meant to reverse each word in a string, but not the string itself (“hello world” -> “olleh dlrow”)

and after some different attempts he asked if there was a data structure i could use, which then led me to the solution. if i didn’t say that i could use a LIFO stack, i probably would’ve failed

I obviously don't know how you feel / what your passions are, but I think you can spin it into a rather strong essay about why you want to get into a graduate program.

I also think, you'll look just as strong, if not stronger if you worked a year or two in industry as well.

You can argue you gave the industry life a go, but research was more aligned with your interests, etc.

That's my current plan, there's only like 2-3 labs I'm interested in and if I don't get in I'm just going to fall back on SWE stuff and apply again next year

I'm particularly interested in privacy and security so like CyLab, and some of the smaller groups within it

I'm also interested in the Algorithmic Fairness and Opacity group at berkeley

Had a terrible interviewing experience in general, all the interviewers were rude and looked like they were in a rush, very robotic process starting from the 1st OA

I was expecting amazon to be only one round for new grad after 2 OAs

That too they ask to explain the same question in OA

Yeah my interview process went from like October to March lol

2 OA’s and then 3 round final

Only some lucky people get the 1 round final

And burnt out at that point

Cliche answer but it just comes down to practice

Have 2 examples per LP

Runt though them before your interview, know them like the back of your hand

Focus on answering as if the customer did always right, perfection is good but deadlines are more important, creativity is important and being open to learning from your peers, etc. just read the LPs beforehand and really internalize them
