You can focus on the front end portion first and then build out the back afterwards

Even though I do leetcode and grind for big tech, inside of me I know that someday I wanna do something more than be a corperate sellout. I would rather do something that makes me satisfied. I tried for an internship at some of these YC startups that looked cool last year without any industry exp and I got ghosted by a bunch of people when I tried cold emailing but this time i wanna give it a second shot for new grad with audible on my resume

i might narrow a list of companies on this list in SF that look interesting enough to work for and have potential that are big enough that they are looking to hire engineers

If you're going to be "great" and have an impact, you needn't be concerned too much about beating the average or selling out. Do your best, deliver consistently and build up towards whatever it is that you want. Greatness will come with perseverance, not virtue signaling or idealizing.
