Just say HashMap when not sure
Imagine if zon was hiring when we applied
the mfers asked me to write an app and the dude got pissed when I didn’t use abstract classes and Enums
it was joever instantly , can never finesse a java round where the guy wants to screw you over
so many java phd’s
That's not true, you need to know tiktok
i didn’t get intern because i withdrew application because it was deep in NJ
and the other roles i applied for i got ghosted
if you were let go youwould be homeless by now since most people have 3 months -1 year of emergency fund
choosing a cs degree is like having a crush on the popular girl who dont know you on highschool because everyone likes her. Becoming a cop is liking a very pretty girl that that you didnt know about untilrecently about who liked you,
we all chose the wrong option
Is meta still sending OAs?
no its over
yes
Isnt faang in india super hard
(Altho prolly better than being international in the states)
have there been any may 2023 grads that recently landed a job? need some hopium lol
how recent is considered recent?
I got a job in April '23 and they fired my manager two months later
I'm still searching
Where do you guys find new grad positions? I swear I've exhausted the entirety of linkedin already with 350 job applications in the past month for NYC or remote positions.
I would move anywhere in the US except Arizona, Texas, Florida

Or New Mex
There are two GitHub repositories that are updated regularly with new grad positions. Check it out. Also look at indeed
yeah i've seen the realnv and simplify repos, but there's barely any NYC or remote postings there, maybe one every two weeks. I've tried linkedin, indeed (which is garbage) etc.
Anyone knows how hard the Meta OA usually is for new grad SWE?
how does switching from zon > twitch work? do you just apply internally?
no since it’s a subsidiary you have to do a full loop
which sux
however the culture was really good so lots of my coworkers wanted to work there
no idea i never tried it
has anyone interviewed at Applied Materials for Software Engineer position?
i just wasn’t willing to commute that far esp since i don’t drive
thanks 👍
does anyone know anything about interviewing at nvidia or how to best prepare?
its gonna be a technical but idek what to expect
team dependent
oh boy
i'm p sure it's the normal codesignal?
imo if you can't fullscore the oa the onsite will be p hard
onsite is 2x lc in 45 mins
OA you get 70(?) mins for 4 problems but first 2 are trivial
and generally q3 is implementation heavy and q4 relies on some optimization to not tle
vs the onsite where there's less structure on what you can be given
what's tle?
time limit exceeded
Tysm!
Yikes
linkedin still has postings from like 6 months ago and I bet majority of them are ghost jobs
it's crazy
do yall connect with recruiters at all? One of the recruiters taught me to apply for 7 jobs then connect with those recruiters, then find another 7 software engineer at another 7 comapnies, find the recruiter of that company, and connect and send the note to that company recruiters asking if they got job open.
What do you do if the job app is asking for a description of your education?? Lmao
Describe your education
How do you know who the recruiters are?
go to the company on linkedin, click people, search for recruiter
2 LC med/hard in 40 min is pretty difficult if you haven’t seen the problems before lol
that’s why people grind tagged
and you have to ace both to move on
there’s also 2 rounds of that
Rly hard, you have to explain your process, code it then test
even explaining thought process can be rough if it stops u from coding it out
for me at least im slow lolol
the last interview I did the dude just put down a hard on the screen and started doing something else
thats so shit
what was the problem?
Does anyone else keep receiving the written interview for canonical? I got it once and now for all the other positions I’ve applied I received one too
On like a rolling basis
Kinda weird
Yeah I think they say you can just reuse it if there's overlap - some roles ask slightly different questions on it, though
A guy I know just finally got an official offer there after applying in...July lol
my monke company posts internal roles only after they've extended an offer to a candidate
is this supposed to be normal lol?
or maybe im soft blacklisted for applying to too many internal roles
your company isn't worth it, you'll get a better job elsewhere
🪢
I feel like the market getting better?
it’s gotten “better” this is probably as good as it’ll be
this is peak secure the jops now
I have to wonder if there’s something wrong with my resume because I keep getting denied from entry level/jr/I developer positions despite having 3 years of relevant C# and API experience 😭
Just got another automated rejection today for a Software Developer I position with no feedback or info other than “we aren’t moving forward with your application”
is that 3 years of full-time experience or internship experience?
Internship. They didn’t specify whether or not that would disqualify though
I have come across some openings that specify
And if that is a disqualifier, then how am I supposed to get non-internship job experience? I was doing the same stuff everyone else was on my team, I was just an intern
I was under the impression the whole reason of doing an internship was to get professional job experience so you’d have it for applications in the future
internships don't count under the "year of experience" for most places, but they do help for entry roles
it's likely just the market, too many applicants at the entry level
Is level I not considered entry in the industry?
you can get your resume reviewed at #1019675142248468601
Okay. I will do that when I get home. Thanks
not necessarily, it depends on the YOE specified in the listing (if none, then just apply anyway)
Yeah. I’ve been applying to a lot of those. Most of the time I just never hear back. It’s probably just the market but I would like to be gaining relevant job experience instead of working a generic IT job that isn’t really giving me professional level programming experience which seems to be highly important. Wondering if the job market will ever recover at this rate. Might have to move out of the Midwest for a few years to get that experience for those remote senior level positions that seem to be everywhere
Seems like most companies now just want experienced programmers and no one wants to train new ones or give new ones a try
Anybody got datadog recruit email
How do yall even apply for DDog, the website always says im missing something so i cant submit
Probably closed application
Don't think so
Hey everyone, i currently have a super day interview at vanguard coming up next Tuesday. I was wondering if anyone has gone through it and is willing to help me prepare, or if you are currently interviewing at vanguard as well we can help each other. Pls send me a DM. Thank you!
I’m wondering if anyone else experienced this. I applied to datadog a month ago and after applying ripple match said you are a low match for this role. Wondering if I got filtered out completely by ATS?
2023
May
But I just saw someone from 2023 get an offer
Does it affect chances
Or just nonsense nonsense
Do y’all ever email your recruiter after you’re done with OA?
Hmm I had low match too and I have zon and abgs on resume

Uh any 23 grads still looking? 😭
dec '23 count?
We still here bro
too many L's taken
Did you have a ton of keywords in your resume or something?
dec 23' grads lets goo
Looks like we all got rejected from affirm

the devil's rejects
what other positions can i apply for with a cs degree?
anything with finance?
considering swe is not working out i was thinking of applying to other fields
idk what to do
cant find job and approaching 1 yr post grad 😭
did u do masters
doomed
were you layed off or no job that entire time?
no job 😦
anyone in the same shoes as me ? 🥲
yep. All you can do now I try to get really good connections, do good open source work, or create a project that is impactful. Or try to get a state job
Time is ticking
anyone hear back from Microsoft yet or visa yet...
only got visa OA and rest is history am I finished 😭

r u still looking?
did u guys go to top schools?
This is slavery. Our ancestors fought not for us to recieve this 💀
i went to cornell and still unemployed lol
damn when did u graduate
may '23
what experience
any tips for the unemployed? is masters a bad move
I coulda went to Cal Poly Pomona but CSUN accepted me first and there's some weird caveat with CSU/Cal Poly where candidates for impacted majors get placed at the first campus to take them
if you're not employed by end of summer, apply for retail to survive & start looking for grad programs
the hardship of the modern age will make for great scholarship essay material
No internship? international?
1 internship (startup) us citizen
Is this you?
have u had interviews?
nope but that poor guy lol i’m at least still being considered
lost count but definitely not more than 10? i had success early in my senior year but later got rescinded when layoffs happened
damn thats a llot
i thought my school name would do more for me tbh i regret the way i approached the job hunt
Apply for this. The recruiter even reached out to me via LinkedIn message. But I am not a US citizen. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/3823239405
Posted 2:19:09 PM. We are looking for US Citizen candidates who have recently completed their Graduation. They will be…See this and similar jobs on LinkedIn.
oh bet i’m in the dc area already. thanks
i should’ve kept applying even after having those successful interviews
also should’ve kept applying after getting offer from DoD but took break thinking clearance would be faster
I think ivy league will still help hella
All the junior-level jobs I've come across in Maryland, DC, and Virginia require citizenship.
i’m not so sure anymore tbh
part of my regrets being hella stressed for 4 years to end up in the same bubble
ur atleast getting interviews surely one of them will convert
send me a dm with what you’ve found
I don't see them now. I think they already hired. I saw a lot during the last few months. If I find it, I will share it with you.
Have you just been waiting to get adjudicated or background investigation/other processing?
what is the lowest pay you would take for entry level swe?
Depends on the area and CoL
If you're in NYC i wouldn't take 50k
But in a v LCoL area I would
There are tons of CoL calculators you can find online
To see what a good salary would be
40 an hour
has anyone gone through instacart process?
Guys how do I talk about an internship I forgot a lot about
Write down what you can remember before the interview
use chatgpt to jog your memory
anyone here who’s given Microsoft interviews?
Is anyone here interviewing with Goldman Sachs? Are they just stop hiring due to the headcount issue?
Did anyone else apply to ReMatter and got the email with the project to do earlier this week?
it seems like it's just "hey do this free work for us"
Too real, there was a computational math major from my university who ended up homeless after graduation

Sorry my mistake
HE HAD A PHD
💀😭

He did his master's and was doing PhD
This is why I think academia is a ponzi scheme tbh
Shouldve just went phd route
WE WILL GET JOBS IN FEBRUARY ‼️‼️‼️
Hi I completed coinbase finals My interviews went fairly well. But couldn’t complete all follow ups. Will they move forward me ahead in that case?
that's something you'll find out very soon, they give results quickly
When did you have it?
Usually it depends on how many questions
you got before
I fumbled my nvidia interview so fucking hard it’s not even funny 😔
Game dev was my dream job too
But now I just need a fuking job

I LANDED MY FIRST INTERVIEW!!!! 9 MONTHS AFTER GRADUATING 7 MONTHS AFTER MY LAST INTERNSHIP!!!!!!
Same here chief, we gonna get a job soon
Let’s go! Gl chief
it hurts to get ghosted 🥲
now get the bag 🙂
number 1 best way to get job is through connections and networking. Masters is a waste of time and money
if i dont get a call back after 2 weeks prob got rejected right
Yes
i mean you are playin the employement game
I'm glad my shitpost back in '23 has extended to this point
A recruiter recently ignored me after I completed a HackerRank test two weeks ago. However, today she reached out to me twice. I chose not to respond to her messages.
hey, was wondering if I should consider SQA position for now ?
can't find any SWE atm
Godamn
i cant find SQA either 😭
shiet, SQA is usually plentiful where I'm at
when did u graduate?
Hey quick debate question, does saying that you are willing to take a pay cut if you a new graduate with no experience during your interview increase the chance of getting hired just to get your foot in the door? Because as junior/entry level developers we are looking more for experience instead of a big paycheck.
But in reality, we are desperate for a job in the current state of the tech industry being so competitive and since all you have is a college degree and personal projects but no industry experience , nothing will stand out from the crowd
Idk that’s just my thoughts on it
Just be confident about the value you will bring to your employer, charimsa-check them, all you can really do.
Being desparate will not help you even if you do get employed; (they have something to hold over you)
Hey, has anyone interviewed with Lockheed or the NSA? If so can you tell me what it is like please? Thank you!
Dec
Been looking for a job since August but couldn't find one in swe. Looked around at sqa and found one company that's willing to take me. Problem is, idk how I would transfer back to swe
try internal transfer and keep applying to swe jops
yeah, tis the plan I guess
did you find anyone?
Is meta sponsoring H-1B this year ?
Just received a call from a data dog recruiter but their signal was bad, voice is so garbled I can’t understand the phone number they gave for callback
The number they called me on disconnects immediately

call again later
Everyone wants a NG job
But nobody thinks about how anyone will give NGs jobs
The brutal reality is that nobody will give NGs jobs
💀
I just saw on LinkedIn that Netflix now partners with a 6 month boot camp to hire entry level software engineers. What is the point of that when they don’t hire people with 4 years of a CS degree 😵💫
virtue signalling
that program is for underrepresented students, they still have normal apps for new grads
So how does that work? Spend ten grand and 6 months to get an interview at one company?
100% better than being unemployed for months tbh. You can still applying for swe while working as a ft sqa
Applied for Red Bull IT grad job, got a behavioral assessment and its all "choose the picture when best represents your mood"
do you get free red bull
While I understand the need to get underrepresented groups into tech, how are they going to perform if top of class people get denied? Wouldn’t it be better to get underrepresented groups from unknown universities that still have strong programs? Just can’t see how 6 months could make a Netflix dev out of even the strongest candidate ever
Hell yeah
Also formation boot camp is 2,500 per month 💀
Bruh
Seems very expensive
when I was working at the bike shop around the corner from Red Bull Santa Monica, the CEO's assistant would bring us boxes of free red bull every week
it's training for internship roles for current students
who are underrepresented
all companies have some sort of pipeline for that stuff, like google, lyft, etc.
psyops
i think @slender axle misread it, because it was actually a free bootcamp type of thing that offers interview prep to get a netflix internship for current students
full-time offer is only if they land an internship offer and perform well enough to get a return
Their service is normally 2500/mo. The Netflix thing is giving them access to the program for 6 months and then a shot at an interview
i'm talking about this:
I just saw on LinkedIn that Netflix now partners with a 6 month boot camp to hire entry level software engineers. What is the point of that when they don’t hire people with 4 years of a CS degree
it's for Internships, not full-time
I mean, point still stands. Netflix internship is still very prestigious and many top candidates will see a reject
tbh they are probably qualified just from x group i dont think netflix is hiring rands
personally i think it's a good thing, it's annoying seeing the same cracked people get all the top offers in this server
true but also sad to know I don't qualify as the top 1% megabrain candidates, but also not for these side programs (especially since we've already graduated). I do qualify for a job at subway so I have that going for me
you can always go for netflix with some YOE
nah the only reason I would want to go there is early in my career to get fast growth to senior+ then leverage the brand name and level to work at a less crazy-intense company
that's the thing that sucks, people say "oh the market will recover in a few years" but in a good market by that time we would be well advanced in our careers
I don't wanna be no-life 70 hour a week grinding when I'm 35
Thoughts on remote vs hybrid vs on-site?
Job
Do you have a choice?
No just wondering. Well they are diff roles anyway
Remote gives you freedom to work from wherever plus you save money on traveling and if you’re living with family then you’re pretty much making bank
Hybrid not sure cuz it’s remote plus in office so you’ll have to move for the sake of where the office is so there will be some expenses but you can network and have a chill life depending on where you are
Onsite is pretty much office everyday so depending on work culture it could be good or bad
remote has the risk that the company will change their policy and force you to move
just sayin
you could find yourself in a tough situation, being forced to pay a high price for breaking a lease, having to move away from family or your significant other, or even just them deciding to lay off people who don't live near an office
is the application closed?
hey, mind if I dm you to ask about instacart?
Idk I would check on LinkedIn
has anyone taken confluent OA before? dm please
How many questions did u guys finish of the Ramp OA?
I finished 3 of 4 and it was Codesignal
Now they wanna do a Hirevue video interview
is linkedin premium worth it?
Not really
Bleh i was thinking the "see how you stack against other candidates would be worth it" but probably not super helpful
I'm at this step
Still dunno the questions
For the graduate program? which division, IT?
Yeah IT
tis not
are you citizen or intl?
Did you find this to be true?
New here! Thought I'd ask about an upcoming Nvidia interview i have. Is this the right channel to talk in? I only see leetcode/system design channels under interview prep.
It's for a silicon solution engineer and I don't know if it'll be a typical software interview or more hardware. Anyone interviewed for a similar role before?
im getting no call backs 😭
Honestly, same. It's rough. This one I've had in a while
I believe you, and I was wondering if you’re saying that from firsthand experience or what you’ve heard online
Oh damn what is their tc range?
Do you need to know ml/ai for it or can you be full stack person too?
Sorry you don’t think you need to know ml/ai or you don’t think you can be fullstack person?
Thanks
I actually just had my nvidia interview
It was 3 parts: talk about a project kinda a deep dive. He asked me some things about oop (I’d call it that). Then 2 leet code questions
have any of yall had CSS in an OA
i graduated in may 2023 and i dont have any internships how fucked am i
Less fuck than international
Bruh 😭😭😭
Unless of course ur international
nah im not
Then that okay
Do you think it went well? This was all in 45mins?
Leetcode difficulty? Also mine is for a silicon position, was yours? I have no idea if it’s gonna be a typical software interview or more hardware
No I fucked it up lol. And it lasted almost an hour I wonna say
I had two easy and mine was for full stack so I’m not sure
Aw, that really sucks, hopefully you still pass. Do you remember the questions? I probs won’t get them but it’s good for practice still
yeah for IBM, just easy flexbox
Means he can work em to the bone
are u working as something else now?
yeah i work at a restaurant :/
ur not alone im working as doordasher/ tutor ... just keep applying...try sdet, sqa, it engineer 😢
ofc dont give up bro
time to apply for principal engineer roles
working 8 hours trying to survive while also trying to get my first soft engie job is tough asf
forget those charts, once you get experience you can get high salaries eventually by job hopping
idk anymore
but more experience usually means more pay, if you job hop right

🪢
Anyone get response from datadog
Yes, got free trail
which comapnies will do layoffs on feb 14
?
u get to tell ur loved ones u lost ur job as a present
all that matters is which companies are gonna post jobs/send interview invites on feb 14

i am manifesting that you get one
manifesting back at you too!

@rain patio

I really don’t understand how I’m getting rejected from government positions that require US citizenship. Like who tf am I even competing with??? I thought this shits supposed to be easy… is my resume that bad 💀
Really? I didn’t know
That’s pretty weird tbh
Oh shit
Thanks for letting me know. Appreciate it 🙏
have u been shittalkin the fed?
nah but since you bring this up, they must have seen my likes and follows on twitter
pls dont tell me u are one of those who links twitter in resumes
that's like begging for them to pry and reject u
also i suggest u get a LaTeX fetish, fast
have a looksie at the #1019675142248468601 channel
bet bet thank you
good template
but overused
if u can rice it a bit so it stands out
also put skills at the bottom
u can merge gpa and "bachelor of arts" into one line
in skills keep it simple, i do this:
what else
idk maybe just post on #1019675142248468601 and ask for a roast
but first get a huge LaTex fetish
is negotiating for 5% worth it (they downleveled me, though the pay for the lower level is still in line with what i put on my application
)
Yes
no name remote company
Remember ask for higher than ur intended amount then meet in the middle
Art of negotiation
saw an ad Airbnb is hiring engineering apprenticeship. this is only for those who doesn't hv cs or related degree.
2 late
(i also don’t really care im fine with the current offer im just greedy)
don't accept anything less than $200k
CS Major with 4.0 GPA = reject. Person with no experience = you're hired
And non cs major + 1 yr coding exp = hired from big company
That's what I saw on linkedin lol
this channel is expired
noooooooo
When you guys reach out to recruiters what do you say exactly ?
hire me
I'll chug-jug straight ipecac if you give me the opportunity to interview for a full-time role
It’s my fault for expecting a serious answer in this server 🤣
give job im desperate
Rejection email 19 minutes after applying, that's a new PR
How's it going guys?
is it common to interview with principal engineer as first round?
This is too good
well... its not going... that's the problem...
wayup is a gyatt damn waste of time!
This going in my suicide note
u invested 4 yrs for a cs degree = no job
other ppl no cs degree can write if-else/while loop = get hired

that's for non-trad/bootcamp, opportunities like that aren't common and they are way more competitive
usually lower paying too, some of them are also like internships with no guaranteed full-time conversion
Two Sigma still hiring for new grads
https://careers.twosigma.com/careers/JobDetail/New-York-New-York-Software-Engineering-Full-Time-Campus-Hire-NYC/11993
Two Sigma is a financial sciences company, combining data analysis, invention, and rigorous inquiry to help solve the toughest challenges in investment management, insurance technology, securities,...
apply and find out
They have a london option
The nyc link lets you choose location preferences I think
I applied a while back, so I'm not sure
unironically this might work
Hey guys I wanted some feedback. I’m sending out like anywhere from 30 to 60 apps a day and they all more or less match my skill set. I think my resume is decently strong but I’m not really having any luck. And these applications are for any companies I’m not picky. I see people say they send out like 3-5 apps a day. So I’m just wondering how do you guys do it that send out less apps and how is it working out for you? Maybe I should start applying less but tailoring my resume or something
did you post resume in the review channel?
I would post your resume in the resume review channel. Also I'm curious how you're even able to find 30-60 apps a day to send out. I also would try to focus on companies that seem like are actively responding/recruiting
here ill just post it here. but i have revised it many times
there are a lot of postings on linkedin and stuff like that. i just sift through a lot of positions
it needs to be more concise
like u have great experience on there but try to give it more space and focus on the most important/impressive starts
yeah ur right ive thought about cutting down. just scared id throw out important info or something
yea I'd say mostly just trim the fat, like you could probably just remove that last bullet point on the internship and lose nothing imo
who cares tho
no one is going to know what you did
only you are going to know that
your problem is you have 1 YOE
nobody is hiring 1 YOE
Instead of applying randomly 30 to 60 app a day just look at the one post most recently and apply to those
Why you need job if you are already a SWE?
you interviewing for L4 or L5?
education and skills go at the top imo
yeah thats probably the main reason
thank u. just dont know why im having such little luck when applying so much even to no name companies. guess market is just absolutley atrocious
i am t20 😭
yeah true
so real bruh
What’s the number of interviews you got using this resume to the number of applications you submitted?
@quiet copper I’m a fan, I think ur just unlucky
why you looking for a SWE job when you are already a SWE?
How easy is zon to get into after 1-2 yoe?
idk maybe like 10-15 different company interviews (like oa's and video interviews combined). actual video interviews and stuff like that i think maybe 3-5
didnt u land a bunch of offers? i think ive seen ur name a couple times in the process channel. do u mind sharing what helped u get past the resume screen
i want a different job
I need the optimism
Different SWE job? Like what?
depends on if you can also code the non-optimal solution
Find the brute force and then the optimal?
Do they want you to code both solutions in the given time for each of the coding problems?
Or can you psuedocode the brute force
he’s ex G and DB i think that helps passing resume screens
Just luck and good exp
But I’m intl so they nerfed me
congrats on h and r
I can’t keep going like this 😔

Recruiter wants to set up phone interview but the job isn't available till summer 😦
good company tho
so if I do well I'm still scared they will change their minds between now and then
Do it and gain more experience in interviewing, even if you don't get the role.
that's a great idea
Yes, you might regret it later if you don't do it.
thanks king
ur gonna watch me cook
single-handedly bring back hope for #2023_grads
beautiful big salary ML SWE positions dont just fall out the sky yknow
honestly summer is approaching 😔
turns out I already did their OA and forgot about it lol
true
Hey December graduate here, where do you all look and apply for jobs? I’ve been applying to over 200+ places on LinkedIn and Indeed combined but still no luck
How many applications you submitted? Wdym by no luck?
anyone interviewed at Walmart SDE3 frontend role?
I'm 4x amzn intern, bs/ms at T10, but I didn't get OAs from Meta, pin, datadog, etc. I applied pretty soon after they came out
anyone else running into this?
could be bad resume
how tf do u get 4x amazon and nothing else
hc issues, ro questionable
I just coasted with amzn
Never saw how someone would format a 4x same company resume
Try sending resume, i can have a look
sure thanks
mind looking at resume
i mean recruiting elsewhere
I got to pltr final with referral
imagin going through 5/7 interview steps and passing all then getting a rejection letter at 5am 😭
is anyone in here a data analyst
worked at jpmc as one over the summer
can i dm u
go for it\
alr bet
Over 200, no luck with getting any interviews
Over 400 no luck interview after December
I don't remember anymore
did anyone hear back from apple
How many OAs?
How many OAs?
What is an OA?
online assessment
Not even automatic ones?
I got 5 but they were auto and I scored a perfect score on 5/6 of them…then got resume rejected
I guess
Anyone interviewed with Tesla for full stack role?
has anyone received a maki interview, or is it in the process for the company transfer wise / wise for the new grad swe role?
anyone interview with Navan?
W
yea have u done it yet?
send resume i can take a look too
Post in #1019675142248468601
does anyone know if MSFT ask system design quesions for ng role a lot by any chance?🙏
yes they do
@rain patio
Anyone interviewed at HP (not HPE)? Not sure what kinda process to expect
I got a referral and still haven't heard anything abt my application
im kidding
@brave forge took ur offer

your h and r offer
thanks
Fr he clears me so easy
Hey guys ,How y'all doing . Are any of the international students in the us , getting calls / interviews. All most all of my applications are getting rejected right away
not good
i get ghosted more than rejects
sorry not the reply you're awaiting but im curious why do most of you put a space before the period/comma? like in your message guys<space>, or doing<space>. i think only people from one region does that. is it a rule to do so when you're typing in the native language?
not hating or anything im just curious one of my hobbies is amateur anthropology
I don't think it is a region thingy I write commas like this guys, what's good
guardian life mfs got back to me again after rejecting me for a role in January
and ghosted me
🪢
I am not really sure. I always end up correcting the space during my final draft as it is recommended by Ms.word or other spell and grammar check tools.
is it a holdover muscle memory thing from something else? like boomers and peeps who grew up with typewriters end up typing two spaces after the end of a sentence cuz thats wat they were taught
anybody did the seond OA for wise/
Muscle memory , yes . We give out space after every word and hence end up giving a space right at the end of the sentence as "." isn't part of a word.
is it looking dry for yall or just me 🥲
i havent seen intls do that, where in the world are these guys coming from??
im intl, so no hating
they do?? like we have thekarma did it rn
where are u from dude
im really grateful for the fact that im already a US citizen. it seems 1000x harder to get a tech job outside the us lmao
how many months has it been since yall graduated?
8 months wbu
1.2 years
same
+1
It's so dry ! I didn't even get an online assessment other than the automated ones. Is it the same for y'all or am I missing something
The other world 🙂
I think its same for all intls who didnt get return offers from their internships
Yeah it’s super easy
what have yall been up to @mellow glade @dim rock
AWS cert(s), getting referrals, applying, wasting away in bed etc
ive kinda made up my mind to get a masters tho
yeah me too
not sure yet
im kinda split between cybersecurity and data science. im genuinely not sure what to pick. I feel like getting a cybersec job would be easier though
think he's talking about the space before the punctuation
oh my b, i misread what you said lmao
Starting a team for this HackWeekly Discord server where we work on a project given some guidelines. If anyone wants to be a part of it feel free to private message me. Going to be working in Python.
just been grinding lc. Been planning to start giving codeforce contests , but they are usually way early in the morning for me
anyone know how to study for "general scripting ability" they said i needed python requests and BeautifulSoup downloaded
i usually use javascript for web stuff 😐
for what co?
and its' not too hard if u know python
prolly a hour tops to learn and a few more hours if u wanna practise get it in ur head
aite i only use python for leetcode and havent used it too much for projects or work lmao i just lowkey drk what scripting means
coursicle
its just automating tasks probably
like instead of going to a site and taking info from it and putting that info into a spreadsheet you can just scrape with BSoup and output the info into a csv or whatever
set it up with cron to run every night
that sorta thing
congrats you just killed another minimum wage job
Hello everyone! What resources do you recommend for preparing for technical interviews for a Software Engineer position? Besides LeetCode, what else should I use?
review technical concept that listed on the job posting
Thank you! Yes I mean in DSA concepts
Have you completed the neetcode 75 list of problems?
Is the same to Blind 75?
Similar
Ohh I did some of easy-medium from Blind 75, I will check neetcode 75 list
Thank you so much😀
I am New Grad - UofT Computer Engineering, searching for Software Engineering roles. Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks for asking this, I actually have had this exact question.
@rain patio 🧤
i feel like theres no hope for me to break into swe 😦
same
whoeevr just dm'd me, i accidentally ignored it so send again 😭
it was probably an offer, damn missed your chance
jooooooobbbbb dddddddrrroppppiiinnnnggggggggg
?
It's tough, but have you done everything within your ability?
Have you gotten your resume reviewed in #1019675142248468601 ?
Do you have solid side projects (if not prev exp)
Do you have a good amt of skills?
Are you applying for opportunities as soon as they come out, or are you just looking at LinkedIn occasionally?
Have you ever tried following up to a ghosted role with a LinkedIn dm or cold email?
The market is very bad rn
But there are a few things you can do to improve your odds
Question, is it recommended I apply for virtual internships if I don't anything this summer? I am a recent new grad (two months) and was hoping for some advice in regards for this matter
I dont think you could apply for internships if you are a new grad
You can, its just most internship opps are for people currently enrolled in undergrad or grad-school
Summer grads expired?
send cat pics
i love your cat
Anybody waiting for a decision from ServiceNow after interviewing for their Software Engineer role?
im waiting for qe role
how's the interview for qe role? did they ask lc?
yea, but easy ones
like very easy
and didnt even bother with complexities
there was one recusion one, something like find all permutations
what kinda knowledge domain do they need? Testing?
Have anyone had meta pre screens
Shits annoying it’s like a level lower than an actual recruiter screen 💀
Idk why I keep getting them instead of a normal recruiter call
which exact role?
Software engineer - Fullstack
Saw somewhere on reddit. Not sure on the role. How was your experience interviewing?
It was hard.
Damn. Hope you get it!
I am expecting a call back for a different role. How should I prep for onsite?
excuisite
Anyone here know where I can see the latest salaries for new grads (undergrad + masters grads) for certain companies? I know companies don't directly release that info but any other trustworthy third party sources y'all know of?

not sure what to do at this point
<@&868936794601828492>s
damn i'm sorry
Why does DoorDash auto reject based on grad date 😭
They have roles 1 semester before and 1 semester after may 2023
But they don’t want any 2023 grads
Which roles(s) did you get reject for?
i havent been rejected but still no oa
Reject
From veeva
They’re done hiring
Veeva
what
in the midwest?
theres different locations i dont think the talent pool is all the same
they say they are hiring 100 ng in the midwest. no way they have that already
i still have my interview friday they haven't rejected me too
I asked recruiter after hm she said they’re more or less done
Applied to a school and they replied back asking if I want to do MS or PHD and they would give a good deal to me. tf????
he’s doing the 24/7 stream for nothing?
Lebum is astro dev father
Let’s hope not, if it makes u feel better I can review ur resume
what location are u interviewing for though
I dropped out of process
well what location was it that told u they are full when u were interviewing?
oh well cant find out anything till i interview friday
Bros a crazy opp😭😭
When are you guys gonna get tired of spamming that gif in here everyday
Doesn’t really do anything but make this chat more depressing every time someone opens it
You misspelled insansity
anyone looking for jobs still?
WHAT
I support the military industrial complex 🫡
praise be to the united states of america
credit score increased
@brave forge wait doesn't shamrock clear h&r block
nah just stay at citi and then leave for a mid level position at big N
you’d probably be doing C++98 there
honestly c++ experience is pretty valuable
C++98 is far from desirable
not the worst tech stack but it’s down there
nah dog, companies will take a chad legacy c++ dev over another javascript kiddie any day
assuming you actually know what you're doing and don't leave memory leaks all over the place
maybe other places that use legacy C++
there’s way more jobs for full stack type work
yeah but average pay for C++ dev is higher
Its always a tradeoff between pay and job availability
Yeah the average is higher because random companies near me hire js devs for 30/hr and bring the average down
even at faang. c++ devs make 100k more than js devs at google
at the senior level
L5
those are like rarer than diamonds
esp these days
nvidia, bloomberg, intel, msft, ibm, any browser company, any finance related company
bro we’re talking about legacy C++ here
not faang or hft C++
I promise you plenty of these companies are on c++ 11 or c++ 17
its not that far off
my original comment was on lockheed and defense
which a lot are using C++98 or 03
like no auto, no smart pointers
ya
yes I agree, but what I mean is that many high tier companies still aren't on the latest c++ version
butcompare those companies to the number of soydev tech stack companies
and modern c++ codebases have I would say a majority of functions that could compile fine in c++ 98
the gap between C++03 and 11 is huge
also in the big cos very few work on cpp other are using other langs to build stuff to interact and interface with cpp
most people would consider 11 to be modern
programming in 03 is very different than 11 or 14/17
But what you're not getting is c++ 98 is the hard part, the core skill. Later features are both quick to pick up, and literally easier to use
no one is gonna reject you for a c++ 20 role for having c++ 98 experience
what is c++ 1970 like 💀
c++20 is modern. I need modules
you use tweezers to pick up the electrons and move them to flip bits
i mean i’m not gonna keep up this discussion but i’ve seen legacy C++ code based where it’s all in 98 and 03 and it’s not a place where you pick up good modern C++ skills. working with manual pointer management and shit is not gonna fly in interviews. sure you can do all that in your own time but it’s not a place you’re gonna grow or develop. if you had a choice between that and like java spring boot or more modern stack it’s way more employable
there’s a reason why people get pigeonholed in legacy defense companies
fair enough
hows the job search going for yall
Terribel
@rain patio
This the year we get that SWE job 💪
There are jobs?
Maybe the “jobs” were the friends we made along the way…
Success rate of cold emailing recruiters ?
Anyone heard back from coinbase?
How was ur onsite
Pretty good
Did you get to finish all the followups? I couldnt
Its impossible to say
Its too dependent on luck + timing + your exp + writing skills
I reccomend reading these articles:
- https://www.cscareers.dev/blog/landing-software-engineer-interviews-through-cold-emailing
After reading those articles. Try using these two tools to get emails. You can also try linkedin dming.
Airbnb, Snapchat, & Cloudflare interviewed me for Software Engineering jobs when I had no connections at those companies. That's the power of the cold-email. Even my current job at SafeGraph came from cold-emailing our CEO. Learn how sending cold-emails will help you get interviews for your dream job.

We are so back
Did anyone receive Oracle or Goldman's OA?
when did u apply?
He said within 2 weeks ( a few days ago ), so should hear back by the end of next week
More than a month since oracle app
No oa
anyone know what kind of Leetcode/DSA questions Cloudflare likes to ask?
Or just the general difficulty?
Got a microsoft virtual onsite in a couple weeks -- anyone have any pointers as to what to look out for / how to best prep for it? (new grad role)
just leetcode dude... grind and practice tagged
- What was your codesignal score?
- do you know what is the minimum passing score for early career engineering roles (IC3)?
minimum is like 500 depending on your resume.... obviously ace the coinsights
i've had a few successes cold messaging through email or linkedin... I'd say it's worth trying
For dp questions, is it okay if I give the recursive + memorized solution
Really? Maybe we got different tests. I got 880/1200. Not sure if thats enough for IC3 since some say 900 was minimum
Also, which one is more important?
- revenue
- ethics
I couldn’t decide 😂
500/600 is equivalent to 900. Check your final score on codesignal
Basically follow their culture page, customer obsession and bias for action among other things
Oof, didnt make the cut
You gotta get 3 questions and some of 4 generally
Most places need full GCA score
@rain patio
🧤
I thought you got a SWE job long time ago, when did you graduate?
You have sent this same gif 132 times. It is also the only thing you have ever sent on this server, apart from a few messages you've deleted. Are you doing ok?
at this point they're doing it to meme
or to lessen the competition by making them feel it's joever
they're still gonna be applying if they aren't looking in here
2 weeks before.
Are you able to solve both the questions in IBM OA?
I got DP question in OA. Bottom-up Approach. Couldnt solve it.
only 5 test cases were passing
Anyone passed all tests in IBM OA?
And SQL question which has joins order by group by subqueries
that too in 45 mins
Maybe due to job market they have changed a bit
when u are employed
Thanks for the reminder
so never
How is the interview for paycom ?
May 2023... I'm doing contract job 😦
How are you coping up with unemployement in this job market?
How do you proceed in a OA? what is your OA strategy ?
How long you been doing your contract job? Is it related to SWE?
Yes it's swe, 6 months now
A friend offered me a job 🥲🥲
Dang! Wish I have that friend. I got referred to Meta and Google but got rejected lol
Can't be complaining with those referrals
Referrals are useless for most of new grad anyway
Currently interviewing with Cloudflare for System Engineer New Grad. I just completed the initial conversation with Hiring Manager and the next step is Technical Interview for 30 minutes. I didnot find any resources in glassdor and leetcode discussion on what sort of technical questions should i prepare for. Does anyone know what kind of questions i will be asked is it System design or more like leetcode problem.
idk if this is helpful but looks like both sys design + leetcode
anyone did coinbase final ic3 interview recently? how long does it take for results?
why'd you say that?
Based on common knowledge and personal experience
Anyone appeared for Rockset interview for new grad SDE?
I gave splunk OA, Hiring manager said i didn't use classes and assertions in OA.
And rejected
“Applicant did not write positive and negative check unit tests before submitting “
"Applicant did not make whole application before submitting"
"Applicant did not write code for whole company's applications before submitting"
Lol
Keep adding
xD
That too in an hour. How much do they expect.
Hey everyone, wanted advice to properly make my resume. I am graduated in 2023 and now I am working to create a startup. If startup dosen't work, shoul'd I mention it in my resume? If yes, then please give suggestions how?
Is it new grad?
Did anyone give REST API test ? Like the hackerrank certification ? How can I practice more such questions?
I had a hackerrank for Palantir. Honestly just learn pythons requests library it’s not hard
just curious, what position was this? was it industry SWE or was there a specific new grad posting?
sorry to hear tho :/
Anyone know if DoorDash does codesignal? My 600 GCA result is gonna expire in like 2 weeks
It was swe.
Any resource for that?
I mean i would honestly watch a handful of videos about requests if you are unfamiliar with, then read the docs for the python requests library. It’s gonna be get/post/put/delete, http response code ranges, and filtering some json
Okay. Thanks 😄
What was your codesignal score?
i have my first technical interview. i am so damn nervous but i have a week to prepare
anyone know if deloitte still hiring?
First since how long?
First ever 😭😭😭😭
Even in my past internships I never had to do technical questions.
As in coding
Since you graduated? When did you graduate?
GL U GOT THIS
600
Early career backend
Yeah. I thought it was the normal score to get considerated
Netflix ghosted me some time ago even after aceing the codesignal really fast 🤡
Still didn't hear back from coinbase.
The recruiter said that if it was a reject they would send as fast as last wednesday
Process from OA to final took me less than a week, still haven’t heard after final (1.5 weeks)
You got this king
check DM
was ng 23 better than ng 24?
yes
palantir bbg c1 and amazon hired at least until november
Took geico interview recently. The interviewer didn’t comprehend that my solution was O(1) constant time, not O(n) like the typical solution most people do. He said it was too long (code wise). FML I literally wrote the better solution that is both readable and faster
Int to Roman
How would anyone think that's O(n)
wait nevermind
he was expecting to iterate through, adding ones, then removing them and adding fives, etc
my solution was similar to this one
he probably googled and saw "the solution is O(n)"
and didnt consider there can be multiple solutions
Did he think it's o(n) after reading the code? Or after you explained it
After explaining it. Honestly he didn’t understand my solution
Not enough time to write it twice. My solution depended on the fact there exist no Roman numerals above 4000
And every Roman numeral would have the same number of iterations
The problem with these interviews is no one who actually understands big O runtime wants to work at geico
So the interviewers don’t know what they’re talking about
lol I never get the gecio email contacting me, but they sent me an email saying that I ghosted the email
and my application got dropped
They wouldn't let you reapply?
yup I can't reapply
within 6 months since on their end it shows that I was the one not responding to any emails..
Yea, seems like someone dropped the ball, and you got blamed.
Same thing happened to me with ibm
what role is it for IBM?
U never got the questionnaire email?
I did apparently I was suppose to be going to be contacted after questionnaire, but I never got the email lol
Oh same, thought i wasn’t selected move next step or something, though i think my application was still up on the portal
worst process I went though, the only email I got from them was the questionnaire and I even verified with the person if the questionnaire was received, and this is what I get 3 months later
they also ghosted all my emails afterwards
could they have called you and you didn't answer?
did you check spam
yup checked everything nothing from them
I emailed, dm on linkedin them also, ghosted as well
i dont really understand the geico problem but its pretty clear that your solution can't be O(1) because bigger numbers take more symbols, probably O(log n) at best
oh I see you just write a bunch of strings (roughly log (max possible argument))
the dude who did my behavioral was from a consulting firm, not geico lol
I think they outsourced it
