Yes. Since I had the offer already I barely tried to apply to other companies. It was remote at the time and average pay, but now I have to relocate to Utah for RTO in February and they are reducing my pay to the adjusted salary in Utah. Literally the only company I applied to was Bloomberg and I got a verbal offer that was pulled before I could sign it. Now I'm looking back realizing that there were so many dream job recruiters in my inbox that I didn't even see

And it's pretty depressing because I know it's my fault that I didn't apply more. I shouldn't have been complacent and accepted what I was given. But also I couldn't have predicted RTO.

Now I have to face the fact that I might be spending my early 20's in Utah. And it's kind of my fault for not making the most of the opportunities I had. It's like I worked so hard to have a good GPA and resume for nothing. Sorry for ranting just needed to let that out

Not necessarily. If the interest rate is cheap then companies can borrow for pennies on the dollar. So they can hire employees very cheaply. And by the time they need to pay back the money, the engineer already made an app generating more profit. Ok, that interview was brutal. I was given a list of topics to study but they asked me a leetcode question that was completely different (and not on the list of topics I was given to study). If they told me to study Depth First Search/Breadth First Search ahead of time, I would have done well. But alas, they told me to study all about hashmaps and the leetcode question had absolutely nothing to do with hashmaps. So I was unprepared. 😦
