I used to have so much fun playing games as a kid. I swear games back then were so much better

Around 2016 or so, I got super bored of video games because I only like fantasy games like Skyrim, and there aren't many good ones coming out every year. I was just replaying the same old games until Elden Ring came out lol. Elden Ring was so disappointing to me, and I couldn't even stand playing it long enough to finish it. I waited for Payday 3 to come out because I really enjoyed Payday 2 back in the early 2010s, but Payday 3 is a buggy and unplayable mess after 10 years of development. Wtf man

I guess my issue is that I'm overly critical of games now compared to when I was a kid. I guess being a programmer kind of ruins games for you lol because I see so many flaws and stupid mechanics that should be easily fixed but aren't

Skyrim got re released like 20000 times but they never patched the bugs that have been present since 2011 lol

Even with mods, I still run into some pretty annoying bugs

I play video games to escape reality, but games are becoming more and more tedious and stupid like the reality I'm trying to escape 😭

Indie games don't get updated enough for me to play them regularly tho 😭

It's not like some hyper realistic shooter game where you need to code in advanced physics formulas to handle stuff like bullet penetration, ricochets, realistic sound (using the ray tracing equivalent for sound engines), etc. That's basically what Escape From Tarkov is. All skyrim does differently is that it has a bunch of quests that you can do in practically any order, and NPCs don't even have that much dialog or do anything crazy besides follow a simple set schedule. I did like Kingdom hearts until the story got super complicated and there were like 10+ games and multiple re releases across every console known to man

I'm a huge fan of FromSoft's other games (Dark Souls and Bloodborne), but I didn't like Elden Ring very much. Could I ask why you didn't either?

I felt like they stretched out too little content over too big of a map, and the way they handle quests was horrible. If you didn't explore the entire map before finishing certain quests, you'd miss out on an NPC encounter and their associated questline without even knowing that they ever existed, which would lock you out of some pretty nice items. That system kind of worked for the linear souls games because exploring and backtracking was pretty straightforward, but they kind of just ported the same quest system to Elden Ring without any afterthought. I'm really disappointed in how they handled the game. It was supposed to be their final souls game, and they kind of missed the point of open world lol. THe map is so barren it's like some half baked skyrim mod

It looks pretty, but there's just not much stuff to actually do 😭

Oh yeah and the performance issues are annoying too. THe game doesn't look that much better than DS3, but it runs horribly. Haven't they heard of LOD algorithms and chunk loading systems to reduce the strain of drawing the whole map?

LOL, I love how you went the narrative approach on this one. Many people complain about the battle system instead. Yeah, idk how familiar you are with FromSoft's other games, but it's always like that. Quests are literally impossible without a guide online.

Can't really call it much of an "RPG" at all.

If you haven't played FromSoft's other games, I highly recommend it.

They are far better.

Bloodborne is my favourite. Dark Souls 3 and Dark Souls come after.

Honestly my fav souls game is still Demon's Souls back on ps3, there's something about the first souls you play. That shit blew my mind at the time. Not to say dark souls 1/3 and bloodborne arent great.

Oh yeah another thing i hate about the souls games is how wacky their armor system is. What do you mean 4 inch thick armor made of magical stone won't prevent me from getting stunlocked by a naked guy with a dagger....If armor is mostly cosmetic, why make some sets so heavy smh. I wanna be a walking tank who can deflect blows from those dollar store daggers and weapons just by standing there

Seriously, I lost to a guy in pvp who was full nude with a broken dagger, while I had the Havel armor and a gigantic greatsword
