I went from getting little to no interviews for over a year - first for summer 2022 internships (luckily I could extend my spring 2022 internship for the summer), then for summer 2023 internships (had to take a summer class and will now graduate in 2 weeks as opposed to December), and then for new grad roles - to now getting two interview requests a few days from each other.
Don't know if this means the job market is slowly improving, but it does mean to don't give up.

I am a California local. I attend a UC as a masters student for a major that's not CS but kinda sorta similar (won't say which one but isn't Berkeley or LA or a top tier one). I met the WordPress dev company at my university's career fair.
For the other company, I applied online. The job is mostly remote but they have offices in San Francisco and Utah. If I need to go to Utah (which will be rarely), they'll let me know in advance so I can book flights and hotels.
