It won't. I am out to my friends, but I will never take the chance and out myself to my parents. There are plenty of stories of queer people like myself doing this and becoming homeless that way. I'd rather not fuck my life for good on the chance that it happens. By at least having a roof over my head, I have the time and energy to continue the process. It is hard to mend a relationship like this. They love the person they think I am, not the person I actually am. As a former hiring manager, I can tell you that 90% of the resumes we get for our entry level SE postings are straight trash. Like they don't even meet the minimum requirement of "Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineer or related major or possess equivalent work experience" so they ATS just throws them out. So don't let the high application numbers scare you from applying.
I don't believe this, and even so, 10% of 1400 is like 140 ppl to contend with. Also, I feel like that can't even be right, there are some more sane numbers that are like 68 people that I wouldn't be suprised if it's like 30+ qualified applicants. I mean all of the 20 colleges in my areas with new CS grads + anyone who is a holdout etc has to be applying.
