This is still the funniest meme ever
i agree w this
depends on your budget
HCOL should only include San fran and New york
How can you tell if a startup is actually real?
100k in a MCOL and you're honestly living really comfortably
crunchbase
I have an 83k offer for washington DC/Balitmore
DC is HCOL
Damn
take it bro
I did
ima be honest man take anything
Baltimore is MCOL
in a security clearance process
Baltimore is not DC
Baltimore DC area
thats how its referred to
I mean what's the actual city
its in that area
Is it Baltimore or is it some rich place like Bethesda
fair
I feel like thats enough frame of reference
I mean i still have to go through security clearance process
it takes a whole year
So 83k in DC makes me poor basically?
Not really u can live nearby and commute
He's already doing fine with internship offers, once new grad recruiting starts he's gonna get mad offers
Rent 30-40 mins away from DC is around 1-2k a month
DC is not bad there’s clubs and stuff if ur into that
Yeah def taking DC
Baltimore isn’t too bad either
Heard a lot of nice things about the city
@arctic orchid baltimore City or county?
county
Baltimore county is cheaper than DC
Have you ever lived in Baltimore lol
But why would i want to live in Baltimore
Baltimore is not a shithole lol
^
Its crazy john hopkins is in baltimore
Europe was founded in 1848 by Walker Texas Ranger when he rode a horse across the Atlantic, he called it "Eastern USA" which was eventually abbreviated EU.
from maryland, georgetown, george washinton, john hopkins
Not there rn tho*
id say seattle is mid point between mcol and hcol
cuz u cant put nyc and bay w seattle
Bellevue is a nice suburb
All Indian MSFT engineers

Same thing really
You gotta live in downtown Seattle with the homeless
3rd Ave downtown
my friend works for rainforest inc
I never saw the appeal to San francisco or the bay area
he said rainforest inc practically owns downtown
lol I just spoke to my friend in CAD
He said don't come to CAD cause the job market is ass
He became a politician
True
He said it's hard to find a job in tech though
Especially entry-mid level
this is an anomaly but you could def find a good 500sqft studio for <1500
whats CA
Most Canadians just go to the US
CAD
Mapleland
oh
The place where tc is 50K but homes are 1.2 million
Is Seattle any good
yeah
i thing its good
Seattle is good but sausage fest + HCOL + high inequality
i like seattle more than sf
Can't marriage-maxx in Seattle
Sf is a shithole
Unless you wanna marry a dude
seattle has decent tech community what
I'm sure it does
It’s Amazon Microsoft and gcp
but idk if anyhthing compares
to the SF/ Bay area
again I haven't been to seattle so I can't speak to it
NYC is dream
Idk i like the beach
I wish there was more tech in Orange County
Not enough stuff for new grads
i wanted bloomberg in nyc so bad i cant believe I fucked my last intv
forever doomed
Is bloomberg opening new grad this year?
Probably
probably theyre kinda recession proof
anyone remeber when they opened it last year?
Gonna referral-maxx when they do
a lot of ppl got BB offers in november
I had my process late oct
but they came to my campus so might be diff
Cus I could get some
brother
nepotism hire inbound
nepo it
Anyone down to trade referalls
What do u have
nepotism doesn't exist in SWE
Guysssss is it actually going to get better in August.
surely

wait r they rlly
we're all unemployed forever
it depends on who the person who's refering you is
Me wants Apple meta and Adobe if they are non intern
if its some random guy on blind
i thought cold applying <<< referrals
it prob wont do anything
the person who's refering you can either say they know you 100%, or its some random guy u met
Recruiter >>
oh ic
I got a referrall from the head of cybersecurity at microsoft
also it depends on how high the guy is refering u
refers dont mean anything if its in
Hes a principle engineer
different departments
How high meaning?
unless ur gunna be working under that guy
Meh
then i doubt it'll help for big companies
What really
maybe for screening
Idk from what i've gathered
yea hitting up old recruiters from previous cycles def works
if they havent gotten laid off yet lol
theres such a big wall between engineering and hr at big companies
that I don't think it matters much
like usually even if u get refers
it depends on so many factors
refers barely help for new grads tbh
cause 0 exp
Its better to probably have connects with recruiters
if ur already working n have experience, then its a lot easier
refer matters for smaller companies
they have less apps
and most of the time they would ratehr hire internal
No even with lots of apps
big companies have a sht ton of qualified applicants
idk, if ur a new grad i wouldn't worry about it
unless ur targetting a very specific position
then sure
yeah
but most of my friends are still working in big tech
so thats wat they all tell me

could take everything i say with a grain of salt, but people say mixed things
its sht

i also want to know it
Dude u gotta fix that
it looks bad cause i just copy on paint
so lots of white space
but idk, i gotten interviews this summer with this resume
and other people approved it

I didn’t read the content
yeah idk why
I barely read the content cuz like even recruiter don’t care
it looks scuffed

but im fixing it in a few weeks
i need to remove 2 lines in research assistant
I guess you are bioinfo
Drop the irrelevant skills
i'm applying for DS roles
Oh I guess excel is loosely related
yeah
everything i have is related to DS in some way
or if someone asks me about it
I used to want to do DS bro I gave up
i can tell them
its mainly stats/experimental sht
but yeah, just need to add AWS dev ops pro cert when i get it
data science is stats
and CS

but yeah idk
i think my resume is avg

we'll see next month when i start applying

idk i doubt it's gunna be that bad
my only hope now is blackrock

plan is : apply to any big tech companies -> then fortune 500s -> insurance/healthcare related -> worse case i do phd in ML

let's start a company
and sell that company to elon musk
Use Dall-E

Typical cs student:
simp
gaming
introvert
high screen time 💀
yeah we are all cs
insurance and healthcare is F500
one step closer to ml phd
uh not really
some are
but theres plenty of those companies that are like F1000
or lower
healthcare pays lower, but high job security
and you happen to know their names too?
the biggest insurance companies are in the F500
yeah
like near the top
exactly
not sure why theres a hierarchy but then you would have to know about their existance
which means u could just hit apply
Have yall had more success applying to local smaller companies? The only thing is I've noticed they usually expect a couple of years of experience and their positions aren't new grad
Is there a place to check unemployment days or something?
smaller companies is a mix of things
main issue is that they would need a senior person to "mentor" new grads
also depends on how small, im pretty sure if they have hundreds of employees then they usually hire
You can always just dip your phd program
if yo u get a good job offer
I heard thats pretty normal
Alof of experts here
So there's no official website that tells you how many days you have left?
its not worth it
people say that you can drop phd for masters
but most people dont unless ur advisor is just sht or research is sht
because u still have to make it to 2 yrs in the first place for masters
ur better off just getting ur phd, and you'll have a much easier time in the future
@gentle peak when did u grad
bruh u good
I graduated may 2022 and didnt get a job till march 2023
Just gotta keep going

How
dropping out of a phd?
Yes
idk, i feel like ur ROI is better longterm if u just
spend 2 more yrs to complete a phd if its from a top 10 uni
it opens way more doors
U have 2 year phds?
Where do I sign up
u would never drop out a phd before ur masters (which is 2 yrs)
i'd assume that most people who drop out phds
usually do it after masters
1st year is usually lab placements
What

idk also depends on what jobs ur applying to
i doubt you be able to get research related positions if u dont get at least a masters
like research scientist/applied scientists
then u shouldnt even apply to a phd in the first place
the process is extremely time consuming
wouldnt u be better off just
leetcoding
were you going for swe?
Now that adds up
Makes sense
But what are you doing
Leetcoding ?
i currently do research in a ML lab
oh
yeah, applying to jobs
phd is like
my last resort
i'll see if i can stay in my lab post-graduation
Ok so let’s say you are in your first year phd would you still apply to the same type of jobs
yea
i mean the best thing to do when ur in a phd program
u just apply for internship in research related roles
but this is usually after ur 2nd year, once u actually start doing research (and publishing)
yeah first year, ur the same as any other master student
i mean sure, u can apply
but idk i havent seen anyone who went into a phd program with the intention to drop out immediately
why do that, when u can get a phd related to ML at a top uni n it opens a lot of doors

yeah people do PhDs bc they're interested in research
I ran side hustle and would grind project and apps
getting into phd is actually hars
hard to do
^
its not a backup plan
swe is the backup plan for ppl into research lmao
harvard art is really bad
so i can kinda do w/e
I’m not saying u come in intending to drop out but if u happen to land a big gig it’d be worth it
i dont think people apply to jobs when they;re that early in anyways
usually they get burnt first, opt out
and then start applying
it's kinda weird to do that bc your advisor got research funding for the research you're doing for them
so it's kinda a commitment
yeah
the only situations i seen people actually do it
is if advisor leaves/is fked, your research is fked (aka experiment went to sht)
lack of funding
or u just get burnt
and u opt out with masters
Yeah that makes sense, now it’s morals
Do ppl reapply to another program
rarely
application cycle takes months
unless u really want a phd, then sure
but u generally just ask other labs in ur school to take u in
and a professor can take over ur research/project
just rope now so u dont have to rope later
honestly just switch to a writer

dis career aint for u

Me too bro me too
Yeah that’s what I was curious about, how fast is that process
idk
never done it
phd literally is a job
u get paid to do research

Ok
Yeah that’s the nice part
People forget you’re getting paid to get higher credentials
It’s kind of a win win
p sure you get like 30k a year and can’t work anywhere else without ur schools permission and u have to TA
ur like the colleges slave bitch
Exit opportunities though 👀
ur talking about internationals
nah
u can do co-ops/internships as a phd student
i think it was everyone that wanted to do some kind if TA funded position
if anything its encouraged, esp if ur not planning on going to academia
well yeah
u just TA during school year
summers = internships
and u can do co-ops if u want to
how tf u gonna support a family like that
u have to be sweaty no lifer basically
what do I know tbh I was just a masters student
hybrid

if ur already working, then phd is generally not worth it
unless u wanna switch careers
like specialize in ML
thinking back the “lab” I went to for my advisor was like, 5 cubicles in a row where we all sat on laptops and nobody talked
if ur good at marketing anything can be a job
hot tub streams can be a job

be an NPC on timton
probably make more than phd
👍🔥👍🔥👍🔥
as a grad student, are you limited to grad-only internships or do most companies not give a shit between undergrad applicants and grad applicants for their internship roles?
Only asking because my most recent internship had both undergrads and grads working in the same team
if august is the definitive recovery month for new grad roles, would an offer be worth dropping out of grad school over?
If there are no entry level roles in Rochester by then, then I'm boned
That's life
(That's life)
That's life and I can't deny it
Many times I thought of cutting out but my heart won't buy it
But if there's nothing shaking come this here July
I'm gonna roll myself up
In a big ball and die
My, my
Frank Sinatra says it best
if nothing shakes out by end of july
I rope
fine if nothing shakes out in august it’s ashes to ashes dust to dust
August is when the recruiting season is really getting started, September is gonna be lit
we should group buy rope to save $
we 2022 grads gotta take that offer first. To at least end the year with some sort of dignity.
nowadays even consultancy taking interviews before pumping up your resume to 8+ years and take 50% salary. Just gib a job
November will be fire
if august is terrible
we will have so much mental reslience in life
nothing can ever stop us ever in life
we are called gen z because the world ends with us
contact your school IPO, and they will be able to help professionally
IPO? Meaning?
and it would be much better than asking here, coz its gonna get rejected if you dont fix it
International program office
just check on google, type IPO, and your school name
any updates on this? i dont see it either
Shit probably got like 20k applicants
Fucking caterpillar
Not even a tech company
yeah lol, the mandem is desperate fr
Citadel with 65k was up surd already
i think it even reached 69k
No chance 65 k motherfuckers thought they had a chance to work at citadel
The gull to even apply
65k? Where u see these stats
30k applied for Goldman for this summer internship so I wouldn’t be surprised
bro if I gotta compete with 65k people for a job I might as well 🪢
no way there are 65k job openings for all of us
just be the best candidate
How dafaq they comb best candidates from 60k applications, resumes can be deceptive.
It just incentivezes selecting T5 and ex-faang to make their life easier
Anyone knows how the interview will be a Goldman sachs? through Infosys as vendor ?
they told they use slang(their internal db language ), java, python, C++
dont know how to prepare for this
yeah but realistically you aint in that top 5 tho
and even if you are the analogy is like, you in the top 500 who are actually competitive
that's just copium, if u want it bad enough and r willing to grind, u can make it
Nah I’ve been crumbling and everyone in my life knows it

You can get 50 kills and lose
nah the reality is more like you know jerry down the street from accounting and he introduces you to the hiring manager "hey sharon this is little jimmy who you've heard me talk about over the years, little jimmy went to school to learn how to code, won't you take a look at his resume? oh you'll interview him right now? excellent, excellet, great, wonderful."
that's how the game is played
to think that the hiring process is pure meritocracy is (slightly) delusional
lol i have zero connections
and tons of other ppl too
I said delusional no stop but its only to some extent it be like that hence my (slightly) qualifer
I mean just reading about different companies and talking to SWE's in the industry apparently no one actually knows how to interview- some companies like amazon iirc have more standardized and trained their employees on the process but most are just ad hoc from what I've heard
not even internet ppl?
I challenge you to CS GO lobby
bull shit 😂
Bro thats population of my whole town
probably >80% of these massive applicant pools couldn’t solve an LC medium tbh
this is delusional
The average CS major hasn’t even heard of LC
Wish I could get a LC medium in an interview
Those are only on pre OAs now and getting 100% = resume reject
this channel collectively needs to touch some grass
^ that's just because it's a new field lol
also 18-24 is when 95% of people go to college so that's going to be stacked for any industry imo
it's over for the little guy
stop it, this is doom_grads
stop the hopium
The one after 65 yr old is longer than 65 yr old. Hehe.
ye
could be a diff recruiter viewing your resume this time
it's a very subjective selection process. plus company requirements are diff for each position
what is the point of Uni if you have to spend another 3-5 months getting up to speed grinding and doing LC and shi (and that's just to be competitive), I literally could have spent the last 2 years doing that instead of degree instead I'm in the same damn boat I was in 4 years ago even before I got undergrad degree
thanks
maybe
but from my experience, there needs to be like INDUSTRY101 like where you learn what you have to do to get a job and what stacks are in the area and what you need to know
because the core curriculum (at least at my uni) is not what people are hiring for
Those already exist as electives
show me
True, but you already need some of these skills to get those internships
neither of my universities had anything like that
yeah, my point is that Unis should be preppin you/making you aware of this
for most SDE jobs.
it might be self study, but like I said, even if they just make you aware of it
yeah i feel like i learned a lot about databases, OS, software principles, algorithms etc which has helped me at work
but ofc it's ridiculously overpriced
he jesus
mb I'm not getting my point across here
i'm talking about a 1 credit class that's like "THINGS YOU NEED TO STUDY/PREPARE FOR TO GET HIRED"
def agree with this. or even better, change these dumb hiring practices
that outlines, take these electives, study this shit on the side, plan to make a project in this stack for your capstone etc.
wish there was a 1-credit course every semester where you get taught some leetcode. slow and steady pace.
it can and should
wish I win 1 mil in lottery
end result is the same, the average CS major is bad at LC
it's really not that crazy an idea 😭
work is fun imo, just wish its not almost our entire lives
more ptos, 4 dayu work week, dont have to stress abt job search when u get unemployed
would love to work till i die
yeah 4 day work week would fix all my problems
sure!
thanks
Not all are great, so u have a point kinda
I needed 1 credit my last semester so I took a college to career elective
damn so u had an actual class like that nice
Basically asynchronous weekly discussion boards where u get feedback from other students
barely learned anything
I know my computer architecture instructor was like "they're teaching you outdated stuff" but he never actually went into any detail
in the past, when i've seen a job i really want, i apply immediately <2 days after it's posted. then i cold message asking for a referral. then i apply with another email after getting the referral. only did this sometimes tho
I guess if u didn’t have resume/LinkedIn before it would be helpful but didn’t teach me anything further
was it general or CS centric?
anyone know when c1 new grad hiring starts?
do you have to fit 40 hours into those four days though
I want full remote
Recruiter confirmed it's opening September
any chance I can get a resume review? #1134514386980053094 message ty in advance
any resume templates for new grads w no experience?
Yahkuna's resume template
dm him for it
@pulsar mural been quiet recently
packing bags to phonexis I guess
they gotta go somewhere after the layoffs
Having 2x/3x FAANG doesn't make them any better than you
I got rejected by Lockheed like 10 times now
Each time adding one more lie to resume
Probably blacklisted
Low key worried about starting the process now , been dooming too much online
Gonna find out I’m mentally unstable
there's gotta be a server-wide anouncement if things really do pick up on August
No announcements pls until I get offer

the question is, is it just NG postings gonna pick up in august, or is everyone going to hire?
Stealth drop job postings
I'm only referring to a complete recovery of new grad roles. Stealth postings are nothing exciting
there shouldn't, we don't need more competition

Hell nah, I’m all for everyone winning but this shit gonna increase competition
although anyone paying attention will be able to tell from the channels that it's picking up
most people are lurking and taking advantage of all the info here
👀
We have a channel for new grad postings
So imo it wouldnt b necessary
Wat does dis mean 🤔
Someone who graduated but didn't get a job
So a lot of 2024 NG positions aren't available because of graduation date, but 2023 is closed
I don't think jokes about suicidal ideation are funny
Some companies consider you a new grad up to a year after grad
So you can apply to some 2024 new grad roles
True
anyone knows what Akuna easyhire interview looks like?
How's the job market up in Canada?
Not great
Thanks for your valuable input 😃👍
In Canada?
I did a few
They can be fun
I also won a small prize at one
But if you one, I'd recommend having a few team members already
It was some ai project lol
Not rlly impressive
It won a sponsor prize
haha use a buzzword and it gets the judges' attention
Go with me
Expired Goods Hackathon™️
@median thistle have u started at snowflake yet?
You're gonna learn so much
Plus Snowflake will make resume screens easy
cracked
let me vote for ur friend
Bing chiling is big chilling lol
Snowflake is prob one of the best companies out there's

Yea, thats tuff...
isnt alberta ran by the conservative rn
Yea
That's a great team
new here?
us poltiics is leaking to canadians
I'm a moderator 😭
yall makign us more insane
Infra at Snow is gr8 lol
is there oncall?
One of the higest impact orgs
For moderator? Yeah
Infra is high TC + High Impact + High Learning
lol
and oncall and generally harder work
true but you learn so much

People like you are why the layoffs happened

Resting + vesting
/s
that's all anyone on here talks about. it's a bit unfortunate honestly
D:
Jerome Powell got us acting unwise
yea but you dont get to code as much
in interviews u can impress easily by how much you know bc it gives you high-level conceptualization of how everything works
idk i jsut feel like a lot of companies' 'infra' roles quickly turns into ops
except for like big tech
Then you want to work in defense, @pulsar mural has connections at Lockheed
should I use experimental resume on a long shot? could be kind of funny if I get the job
it's kinda clean ngl
intern
heh
He's at Sofi right now
Snowflake lined up for fall
I respect him
Cause he's cracked
I only respect power
This guy really needs to stop whining lol, he's really fortunate with those offers
Bro, just stop keep on whining you're already doing good with what you have now
or keep whining, but don't use rope emoji
so many people here are pre-roping and recruiting season hasn't really begun yet

pre-roping lol
I applied anyways 💀
man said don't culturally appropriate the rope emoji
I understand that the job search is tough
But suicide jokes aren't nice 😕
bing chlling has nvidia + sofi + snowflake idk why he coping
yeah it could really trigger/upset some people who just come on here for advice and info
What're they complaining abt
fr lol
They are not jokes
If they're not jokes then you need actual help and being on this server is destroying your mental health even more lol
Literally this^
sure, but talking about roping on this server is probably the worst thing you can do for your mental health
Have yall tried mental health apps in the meanwhile
100% true
what sites besides LinkedIn are you guys using for applying to jobs?
Indeed is all over the place for me with experiences needed for roles
yeah indeed is a fishy website for me plus i've heard that there are a lot of scam postings on there
damn theres not many jobs on simplify either
I got 0 in my area
how many jobs are you guys applying to per day
i wanted to do 10 a day but there arent even that many 😭
LinkedIn, Simplify, Otta, Indeed, and I'll just google a list of companies and manually go to their careers page
I don’t apply everyday
But I look around keep note of places to apply to later when ng opens or if there’s app that requires 1-3 yoe
are you applying to tech hubs everywehre
i didnt know it was *that * dry
yeah im not picky, literally anything goes
any location in canada/usa
there were only 3 new grad positions for the entirety of canada on simplify kek
Bing chilling has internships lined up though?
If you're not joking you should try and get help. https://www.cdc.gov/suicide/resources/index.html
CDC provides resources for suicide prevention, including publications, reports, and data sources.
are you canadian?
yeah
oh my gosh how many does toronto has
what do you guys think of Dice
idk i havent been looking at specifically toronto, just all of canada in general
i dont even look at location or requirements when i apply anymore
I hate this job market so much
anyone hear back from the Pinterest software 1 position or nothing?
rejection
same lol
probably just a fake job posting
but software 1 what do they want
someone with 5 yoe
job desc looked like does not need mad yoe and all that
probably like 4k+ applicants
tf man when will my email look like - next steps 😭

i dont even know why im trying anymore
not even OA
90% of those applicants are not qualified, you’ll be fine
i mean i thought i had a decent resume (internships at SAP and Unity), but i havent gotten a single OA nevermind an interview yet
OA return rate is 1/10000 or something or just me
and ive been applying for two months
alteast send us an OA se we can know we fucked up🤣🤣
Are u applying to the 2024 ng positions as well
We're going to add a bunch of companies soon, been extremely slammed with new feature releases
Lots of new Simplify Customers as well
they havent opened up, i mean the 2024 github link has like 5 postings on it
The matches feature is so bad i cant lie
reavail’s has a couple, test out ur resume on those cause there’s a bunch that hand out OA’s after resume screen (ex: IXL)
does it matter if theyre for american postings and im a canadian citizen
i think i need the company to sponsor me
which sucks
oh yeah sponsorship makes it harder, his GitHub repo specifies if they sponsor or not
i had a bloomberg interview last year, pretty pissed that i bombed that, they probably wouldve sponsored me
what quant places have opened for 2024
A whole lot
Hello fellow jobless folk
These good offers will help you when new grad companies start recruiting. You're just worrying for nothing, honestly. Try to see a counselor about your anxiety tbh.
i had a ft job offer from amazon but they delayed me to january
Hit me up for the latest and greatest in Chromebooks
Does Spotify sponsor in US?
#1 thing that matters is an American passport... More than any faang on resume
maybe canadian job market is more dry than the american one
you live in bay area?
Canadian market is non-existent
well fuck
Which chromebook do you recommend?
u should do all of the US, sometimes remote jobs pop up
i guess thats why you get better filters? am i wrong?
Off the record, none of them
Someone find USA gf and hook us up
danganronpa OST is good background music for job hunting, it matches the depressing and hopeless mood
Waste of time you're competing with seniors
isnt that just entry level
You have USA passport?
it takes two years for that to go through at this rate
All the sudden I'm bi curious
ive actually been looking into it
since my fiance is american and im trying to get a green card
Facts
but with current visa processing its taking 2 years
Holy fuck... What about green card?
thats the same thing, 2 years
simplify has both separate filters. trust me. lol
thats why im trying to get an american job to sponsor me so we can live together earlier than 2 years
I can't wait for the day I secure a job, I know that shits gonna happen soon
but it looks like thats not happening
Simplify is decent
LinkedIn faster
I look for jobs and apply directly on their site tho
do they just not scrap?
I see I see
lets join sde team at simplify and see. lol
maybe i havent been getting OAs because i check the "do not want to answer" box for if i have a disibility or not
No, it's the current market
also i just installed simplify and holy shit filling out workday applications isnt a pain in the ass anymore
well we're approaching August
Just hodl
eye sight should also be considered as disabled fr 😭
Make sure u hit no to disabilities, my dumbass was putting down yes cause impaired vision freshman year 😂
but then again ifthey want more diversity hires they might want to hire someone who's more disabled
Rope.exe
Nah diversity hire comes from the Hispanic/black part
those disability/gender/race things have no affect on hiring what so ever lmao
fr???
Let me cope with my conspiracies
also not indian/chinese
LMAO sorry my b
im a girl

i identify as transparent... who/where

Do you wear programming socks
actually i have no idea if those gender/race/diability things have an affect on hring
i got no source
Does it make them more likely to give an offer 😭
Waste of time, grind leetcode
Waste of time, grind leetcode
There are programs like meta university that mention underrepresented groups though
deadass abt to take it just to get rejected from them
They said it's free on the top
Surely that discount code covers the cost
Yeah I don’t see myself learning anything or gaining anything
most AI/ML courses i seen
taken most of the math out
basically explaining it in layman terms to people
Bro is a colonizer
I'm black too based on that
im related to elon musk. since we are all related
how long do people usually wait before giving an interview and getting an offer
i'll let you know when that happens

ngmi

Can someone review this pls? #1134356503403450378 message
Dude
sounds trauma
lang?
java
I forgot that stuff
I mean the other options don't make any sense
Idk lol
What company is this for?
CAANG Sr. Eng is here
Is it vital to understand big data in this job market?
am i dumb or all of them are valid
i mean it's weird as to why adding two ints would produce a double but it's technically a valid overload
thanks to my ass-backwards university, I am unable to enroll in a cloud computing course, which was something I mentioned in my admission application. While google claims there is some sort of relationship between cloud development and big data, I'm not sure if learning more about this topic would be useful or just some pipeline to data analytics
what do you mean by "study cloud computing"? You could do one of those AWS certs and gain pretty foundational knowledge about cloud stuff. But a lot of people on Reddit say (and I agree) that a lot of it is already gained through work experience.
If you mean you want theoretical knowledge about distributed systems, then those would be the courses to target.
Cloud development can be used for big data analytics. It can be used for a lot of other things. Would studying big data topics help you get more specialized data analytics/data science roles? Sure. Would it help you in a typical software engg role? Not really
gotcha
There are some big data courses like data warehousing/big data analytics that are good topics to have under your belt though
since all companies obv have a lot of data to deal with and understanding how it's organized is useful (though not essential to get a full time role)
Feeling sadge today, all my roommates finally moved out. End of grad school experience
Is there a limit on the number of hours that you can work on in opt? I heard there's a limit of 40 hours/per week. Is this true? Where can I verify this
looks like you can, based on these university websites https://www.google.com/search?q=can+you+work+overtime+on+opt&oq=can+you+work+overtime+on+opt
probably just ask your university international students office to confirm
studying system design stuff is actually so interesting
